Trying is the first step towards failure.
Default Where should I have my 15,000 mi service (inspections) done?

The 15,000 mi. is coming up soon and according to the service manual I need the following done:
  • Inspect disc brake pads and discs, front and rear axle boots and axle shaft joint portions
  • Inspect brake lines and check operation of parking and service brake system
  • Inspect clutch operation
  • Inspect steering and suspension

Are these things I can do myself? If so is there a list of specific things I need to look for to tell if I have an issue with something? Or is there another place other than the dealership (C&C perhaps?) that I should have do this? If so, around how much do you think? Thanks.

Well If you are worried about maintaining your warranty I would take it to a dealer and have them do it. Otherwise you could probably do it yourself.

If you have any mechanical abilities at all, I vote you just look at your brakes the next time you rotate your tires. I wouldn't worry about inspecting the clutch. Check your fluids (don't top off brake fluid unless it's exceptionally low) and call it a day.

In terms of being able to sell the car later on, getting at least the big check-ups (15,000, 30,000, etc.) done at a dealer will make life a little easier. The service gets logged and attached to the VIN, so when a potential buyer runs a Carfax, they see that the proper services were performed and recorded. Seeing no professional services performed kinda freaks people out.

^^ thanks for the info. i was considering not taking it to the dealer and doing my own checkup because i'm sure much of the warranty is void since i did my own mods (TBE, suspension, flash). I've always logged all services done in that my.subaru.com website. At the moment, i think i'd like to keep this car forever. But i guess i never know what situation i'll be in the future. I'm certain the car will be paid off in less than a year. Do you know what the dealership would charge for just the inspections? I read on nasioc around $200. Oil change is also part of the 15k service but i recently had that done.

Lithia blows goats so I vote you call Michael Hohl and get a quote if you decide to have it done.

Yeah, I'd use Michael Hohl too. IIRC it was about $200-$250 with an oil change.

If you go to Lithia, talk to Jeremy ONLY, and tell him you're a member of the club. He'll rape you less...

+1 for letting Jeremy (NOT JUSTIN!) rape you. He's a super cool dude. Tell him to get that MR2 running and out to the next AutoX!
