Congrats!!! To all the the organizers, track officals, and particapants. This was the best track event I have ever attended!!! I have been to quite a few events, at Thunderhill, Infineon and Laguna Seca.
What Fernley lacks in ambiance, was overshadowed by the comraderie and the smooth organization, by SECCS and the track personell.
WELL DONE TO ALL!!!!!

sweet. some of those pictures with the flag waving came out okay :D

doubleurx 2004-08-30 07:53 AM

Awesome time everyone. That was a blast. I still can't believe how exhausted I was when I got home. Post more pics!

Thanks to all of you who organized the event. I'm stoked for the next one.

sperry 2004-08-30 08:08 AM

Thanks to everyone who came out!! The event was eleventy-billion times better than I could have expected! We had a much larger turnout that we thought we would, MattR probably knows the actually numbers better than I, but I'd guess there were 37 or 38 participants. And to think that a week before the event we only had 23 people paid.

The "B" group was a blast to run with. Everyone was very well mannered out on the track... I think the only off was one of the instructors who was out screwing around during the last session. Oh, and skimonkey... who's instructor told him to cut the esses so close he dropped 2 tires off and spread some dirt onto the track.... and then got black flagged for it.

And although I didn't run with them, the "A" group looked to have done an excellent job as well! By the end of the day, I'd bet the A cars were running at the same speeds as the B cars. I'm really stoked that so many of you are now hooked on the track day crack pipe.

The only big "oops" of the day came when the driver of the RX-8 (one of the schools students, not one of the people that signed up through our club) put the car into the dirt off turn 15. I guess he went into the corner a little hot, then lifted in the middle of the corner. He ended up sliding into the runoff... and eventually ran out of room and put the bumper into the dirt berm out there. The damage was all cosmetic, though, and he was back out on the track in the later sessions... minus the lower airdam.

I'm uploading all my (well, Nick's actually) pictures now... they should be available in a bit!

Thanks again to everyone that came out! Remember the next track day is just around the corner!

Hey Guys!!! Had a great time out on the track with you all!!!! Jim and Matt...great driving!!! Sorry I didn't run the last session with you guys but the wag was leaking something (still haven't gotten it figured out yet) on the right rear side. Didn't think it was safe for me or anyone else at thoes speeds!

But we had a great time and made it safely back to Sacramento Area around 7'ish. I hope you guys can make the Thunderhill track day that Egan and I are trying to get going. It is on a Monday and I know that is hard for some, but we really hope you guys from Reno Area can make it. So far we have 19 Subaru's and we need 11 more to fill the 30 spots @ $190.00.

Thanks again for the great track day Scott and company!

Late,

Lowball (Lance)

Oh wow, that picture of the car sitting on the dirt berm is something.

Another part of this event I thought was soo cool, was to see so many drivers I haven't seen in a long time, (Theo & Jerry & Jim P!), plus the chance to meet some of the people who are on the boards but I had never met before.

And by the way -- Nick, thanks for the 1st round on Saturday after tech!

No Problem, that whole weekend was a blast. Hopefully I can get my car fixed before the Thunderhill Track day.

Awesome

That was one of the best track events I've ever been to. We better keep these things on the down-low so that the numbers don't increase too much :).

PS. The car drives fine with 4 out of 5 wheel studs...

Glad to hear you made it back alright with the missing wheel stud.

Oh, and not to forget, Pat - thanks again for use of your place for the Sat. registration & tech!

Nick - you have to fix something?

Something went wrong with the Tranny on my last two laps. It ran fine home it just makes a loud sound (kind of like the reverse sound just louder). It only makes the sound when I am on the gas. Maybe it's the flywheel? Strange though. It shifts fine and runs fine, just noisy.

Anyway, I will try to get it worked on this week.

So where are the rest of the Pictures? There must have been at least 5 people standing up at the flagging tower durring the day with cameras. You cannot convince me we have seen all the pictures... I need a new avitar....

That guy went off RIGHT in front on me at the steeply banked turn with the corner worker on the new section in one of the later sessions as well. He lost the back end going into the turn, so that he was pointed at the worker station, then over corrected and went right over the outside edge of the road.

As I was heading into turn 15 I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw him driving back onto the track halfway between where he went off and turn 15, so I guess his car was ok.

I heard that was actually the instructor in the RX-7... he was out screwing around, and decided to drive turn 14 on the right hand side of the burm. Was it actually the RX-8?

Scott put all of my pictures in the SECCS gallery (man, this joke will never get old, will it). I took a few with Tyson's camera too, but I don't know if any turned out okay (perhaps he already posted all the salvagable ones ).
