Does it have anything to do with the EDF that was on Super Nintendo?

I never played that one but I would assume so. Was it good back then.

It was one of my favorite games. But it was a side scrolling shooter. You were a little jet and you could upgrade your guns and you'd shoot other flying thingies.

Yeah it's pretty much gonna be badass. I hope they release it for consoles, even though they said they don't plan on it.

Demo for Dirt (Colin McRae) is up on XBL. Fast and fun. :)

It's also narrated by Travis Pastrana. He keeps telling me to stop pussyfooting around.

I need a wheel. . . I can get the hang of it, but the car really moves too fast for a controller. It's scary. I've played the demo stage (it's a circuit tarmac rallycross vs. AI Colin McRae) about 10 times already and have only won once. Most of the time I'm just cranking the wheel over too far and running in to stuff.

I've been eyeballing that $80 Logitech wheel we have at the store, for this and Forza.

M3n2c3 2007-05-24 08:23 PM

The other problem that I have is with the fact that the demo forces you to drive AT instead of MT. Having control of the gears would make it easier to keep the car in check and control speed going into corners using the sound of the RPM range. With automatic I feel like I'm just sort of lost in the gears and tossing the car around blindly. If that makes any sense.

I guess I'm just really bad at gauging my velocity in racing games based solely on visual feedback - I need to have the sort of semi-controlled aural feedback that you get from learning and manipulating your tranny.

I like the demo, but so far I think I like Forza 2 a little better. Forza's racing naturally feels more deliberate and controlled, rather than balls-out and haphazard. Guess I could never be a rally driver. Forza also feels more realistic. They really went all out with the physics and audio feedback.

It's pretty fun. Dirt feels a little arcady but I like it. The graphics are pretty good too.

M3n2c3 2007-05-25 11:27 AM

I just found out that picking different cars lets you play different demo stages. I can easily win the dirt/gravel rally stage with the Evo, so I'm feeling a little better about myself.

JonnydaJibba 2007-05-25 12:05 PM

Seems like it will be a good game.

The Evo is the only playable car for that stage. I'm sure I could win it just as well with an STi :P

Latest PS3 update (1.80) is kinda cool. With the media sharing there's one less advantage the 360 had.

Jesubi11 2007-05-28 09:56 PM

I just want sony to keep putting out updates for GT HD for ever...

M3n2c3 2007-05-28 10:28 PM

Until it equals a full game

Really. We're on 1.2 now but I dont know what's changed since 1.0 and 1.1. They definately need to work on the best times not retaining on the server.

sperry 2007-05-29 09:23 AM

What they need to do is work on making the system not $600. I'm not spending $1000 for the console, a wheel (w/o force-feedback!), and a game.

I hear you. But until they stop bleeding and get into the black I don't think the price will drop.
Force feedback is rumored to come out now that they settled with Immersion.

JonnydaJibba 2007-05-29 10:33 AM

Bleeding?
