He asked me to keep it quiet, but since we're friends and all I should let you know that Jason convinced them to choose this weekend to get married.

Did you get new tires Kevin? :?:  (please say no, please say no )

I just have the feeling both you and Vic are going to show up on new tires this weekend...

unfortunately Vic really needs to get his car fixed, it had a check engine on + flashing cruise and totally Felt like it was in limp mode Sunday when i drove it. (half boost)

Has anyone ever heard that that 07 STI is only supposed to make 8 psi of boost? :?:

Definitely not true. If anything, the VF43 let them up the boost a bit or at least let it come on quicker due to the wastegate.

Yep, we got some new StarSpecs last week. We may or may not have been able to finish another event weekend on our Bridgestone slicks, but why push it? Hopefully we'll be a little faster during the gravel stage Saturday. :p

Its going to be a hot weekend , and i'm talking PAX not the weather :p

Mike K, what did you do to knock a second off your last run? Wow, nice Raw time. Too bad Bryan got us both for Raw.

He went slow for his first 5 runs. :p

Kevin M 2010-06-12 08:03 PM

And I'll take a 3rd place from the 1st run group any time!

I like to sandbag for at least 5 runs at every event.

Wow, the course clearly got sucky in the afternoon. I wonder if it's starting to leach asphalt when it gets hot again, or if the surface just gets polished down and too smooth.

cody 2010-06-13 06:22 PM

This weekend only enforced in my mind that the 1st rungroup is the fastest and it just gets progressively looser the rest of the day. And this surface loves new tires, for sure.

The 3rd session started out relatively good, but went away very quickly. And it seemed like the street sweeper didn't help to improve it much before the 4th rungroup. Cooling my front tires on my last run seemed to help a little, but not enough to beat my 3rd run.

I have patches of pavement glued to my tires with tar, presumably from when I parked.

Congrats Kevin, you killed it today. Everyone here is doing really well. :)

MattR 2010-06-13 06:24 PM

It was terrible in the afternoon, my best run was my first of six, I felt like I was driving well, the car was just pushy, then snappy loose as the surface deteriorated. I could not get any front bite, and there was still a ton of gravel coming up in spots. In fact, when we picked up the course, there was a good 3/4 of ball bearing gravel piled on top of the outside scoring light box. Weird conditions for sure...

I would say second group is fastest now. It's warmer, and the loose gravel is gone but the new gravel isn't starting as bad at that point. If it wasn't for the surfaces being all wonky at different times for different events this season, who knows what the standings would look like. At least Bryan and Court are showing that RWD can be competitive, even if all of the 'vette drivers have found better things to do besides Bob Williamson.

 Phrasing can be everything.

Both Rachel and I, as passengers, were getting pebbles thrown up from the last 1/3 of the course, into the car and into our faces. That last third also felt like the worst part of the course to either a) end up offline, 2) lose torque, or d) understeer badly. From a course design perspective with these surface conditions, it might make sense to stay away from tight maneuvers

It does make sense that the warmer temps are causing the loose stuff to come out quicker too.

Kevin M 2010-06-13 07:24 PM

I blame the internets.

Kevin M 2010-06-13 07:26 PM

Oh, and you're dead on with you comments about course design. It will be taken into consideration for the latter July event Cory and I are doing.
