Nice.

I heard about those numbers when I dropped off the STI today. Nice.
In about a week, we will see what mine does with similar parts. P.S. Moderators, if you edit the first post, please change the "Last Edited" date at the top of the post. Thanks. ;) |

Yes, it does. That's why I didn't think to look for the one at the top. |
So that's it for HP mods for this coming season Matt?

Yep. I'm good to go now. Mechanical grip is my next change  |

Since Dean is leaving and will not be there to "coach" me at a decibel level that can be
heard back in Reno, he has bequeathed me some of his parts instead. Grandmas are not supposed to drive cars that sound this cool!!! Name: Sue (CaliforniaSue) Car: 2002 WRX Wagon Mods: Megan Racing Cat Back, ECUTek tuned Wheel HP: 200.9 @ 6000 RPM Wheel Torque: 195.3 @ 4500 RPM Dyno: Mustang @ GST Motorsports 01/09/2007 10:40 am The second run on the Dyno, a couple of minutes later, had slightly fewer horses but more torque. I like the more horses number better. The Miata may never get to race again.... ;) |
Hey Sue, those are great numbers for just a catback and reflash on that dyno! Does the new map have stock boost levels for autox stock class?

And -- did I hear you also got swaybars? If so -- You Have GOT to take it on the track!! (btw, welcome to the board!) |

And the Megan Racing cat back remains the best sounding Subaru exhaust I've ever heard. Good to know it makes nice power as well. |
Not to steal Sue's thunder, but my car is done as well.
Name: Dean B. (Dean) Car: 2004 WRX STI Mods: Invidia CAI, GT Spec headers, VF43, BPM Turbo Back (Cat in Mid pipe), Cobb Pro/Street-Tune Wheel HP: 274.4 @ 5000 RPM Wheel Torque: 316.8 @ 3750 RPM Dyno: Mustang @ GST Motorsports 01/11/06 20:36 |
316.8 wheel tq. @ 3750rpm...
Good stuff Dean! |
Geez Dean, Mike was able to get similar torque as my car, but your HP number is fantastic. What are his impressions of the VF43???
|
Yes! more wagons at Stead. Great sounding exhaust I agree. Now I want to get into my penny jar and go get my wagon on the dyno. ESP will become the wagon class and no longer the pony car class if we keep this up.
|
Sue's Miata is still a better PAX car than her WRX by far. I expect her to continue to run that one unless something has changed. Right Sue?

In Reno, It really hasn't been the pony class in years....at least competitively. Also, Dean, did you have Mike track down the Invidia CAI for you? I think he likes that part now.. |
My mistake, it is Scott's Injen 1 piece. :) And Mike appears to like the VF43. ;)
The headers and divorced wastegate may be part of the extra torque. I know MikeK lost some when he took the headers off off. While lying under the car on the Dyno ramps Mike W. recalled MikeK say... "There is a vibration when you turn right..." The shop guys cleared the side of the sub frame from the headers, but forgot the front part is also to close... So at 10PM last night we threw in the towel and the guys will fix it this AM. So much for the TEAM event, but I will make my Audi event. (crosses fingers, and knocks on wood) |
That torque number is awesome Dean, that will be a blast to drive at autox! Those headers gave me almost 25 ft.lbs with no loss in spool up. First Matt now you well over 300 ft.lbs. I wonder if it is the intake making the difference for you guys.
The rubbing issue on the sub frame took less than 5 minutes to fix ... just get some vice grips onto the flange on the sub frame at the front and right side and bend it out of the way. |
BTW it is awesome to see an ej257 making those kind of numbers with almost 100k miles on the odometer
|
I like that VF43!
That is all... Mike |

(Although, you know, you could keep a dual membership, and drive for 'us' this year. ) Nice numbers, btw. |
I was just thinking. Matt's and my numbers are very similar. I wonder if the extra 10 HP can be accounted for with the divirced wastegate exhaust, the Walbro fuel pump, or the ACT Streetlight Flywheel and 6 puck clutch. I also had the light stock wheels and lighter non-race tires. My single high flow cat may well make less back pressure than Matt's muffler. The twister makes basically no resistance especially with the twist part out. And the fresh turbo vs. one with how many thousand miles? Matt, did you go colder plugs as well?
