No worries, the stickers will protect the paint, and even the sludge is unlikely to want to be near them, so will wash off quite easily...

Now how about the rest of you.... 3 or 4 of us could get the shades up in about 1/2 an hour...

I'll try but it's not looking good...I'll call you if I can make it...

MikeK 2004-06-25 11:52 AM

Good luck tomorrow everyone!

ArthurS 2004-06-25 11:58 AM

Yep...good luck all. We are going to swing out there one of the days to watch.

MattR 2004-06-28 06:40 PM

What a fun weekend! I really enjoyed the big event. The track was okay, but the competition was great. Hopefully, results will come soon, but just a quick update...

I decided to run Scott's car in STX, and Tyson ran Dean's car, both as tire warmers/ co-drivers. So we decided to make up a little team challenge of Matt & Scott (Blue) vs. Dean & Tyson (red) for overall times. Losers bought dinner at Claim Jumper...

So, we finished like this: (times to come later)

1. Dean Benz
2. Matt Roy
3, Scott Perry
4. Tyson Kueper.

we were seperated by .815 seconds over the entire weekend! Very close battle, but Scott and I finished on top. Sunday got real close as Dean and Tyson ran real fast.,.It was sure a blast running in STX again...

On a side note, Debbie also ran in Dean's car and would have finished 3rd in the mini-challenge! Debbie, are you ready to get a suby again???
Anyway, it was cool to see Eric, Chris, DeeDee and others out there to watch this weekend....

I have a trick up my sleeve for my STi next event! PAX beware,..

Now I got to just stay that close to Dean and Scott when I switch back to my car.

damn I should have been fastAr...arrgh

tysonK 2004-06-28 07:32 PM

Dean gave me some awesome coaching...I was happy to drop 0.5 second on my last lap.

We only had three runs so we ALL would have gotten faster!

I think I know what that trick is!

Since STX and Street Tire will run in the morning on both days at the next event we should come up with an "RNP Challenge" to make the afternoon sessions more exciting. Any ideas?

tysonK 2004-06-28 07:34 PM

And for my third post.

Reno Region was owned in PAX.

Of course there stiff National Level competition.

Well Pat I really love driving other people's cars.

I would think that by the end of the season IF people have PAX/Class positions clinched we can come up with some fun RNP things to do.

Yeah, lets have a "Subaru Owners pound on an S2000 Challenge!" , but where could we get an s2000???

Good suggestion though Pat...

Yeah, lets have a "Subaru Owners pound on an S2000 Challenge!"
You can't drive an S2000 like you drive a Subie. It's more like "make sweet love with an S2000"

Be careful with your cheater mods- you don't want to upset the balance of your car:

sperry 2004-06-29 07:36 AM

! I knew those STi's were a little nose heavy!

Bwaaaahhhhhaaaa... That is both for the pic, and the S2000 comment...

Despite what John may say, I found driving the S2000 almost as easy as the Miatas. They are very nuetral you just have to be aware of the addtional powere over the Miatas so you don't get to much power overstear..

I would say the S2000 like most cxars responds well to slow and smooth inputs, especially stearing. In only two runs in an S2000 at the last Saturday Points events fun runs, I believe I was able to best John's competition runs. I probably would have had it after the first run, but couldn't find second or so I thought right off the line... :)

I'd be happy to ride with you, or 2 driver your car in the afternoon Pat if you would like some coaching, or to see how someone else negotiates the course.

Heck, if there is enough spacing in the morning to allow it, we could ride with each other as well. I've given most of the Subaru drivers rides and riden with many, why not you...

sperry 2004-06-29 01:30 PM

Pat: Dean rules! Take him up on his offer and ride along.... if anything it's a fun ride! Better yet, it'll make you faster.

Which reminds me: Dean, I got dibs on you in my car at Reno-Fernley for at least a few laps! :D

John's car is an '04, which has bigger tires, a softer rear suspension, and I think a bigger front bar compared to the '00-'03s. Honda worked hard to make the car less oversteerey. (sweet word, eh?)

I drove the Evans' car the same day you did and it was a completely different experience than driving mine- a lot louder too!
Debbie drove both S2000s back-to-back and will probably agree that mine is more tail-happy. You'll see in a few weeks!

Sounds good to me.

I'm getting an alignment and ditching about forty pounds off of the stock exhaust before the next event so it should be faster than it is now.

Thanks Dean!

tysonK 2004-06-29 06:11 PM

Are you getting a Ti exhaust?!?!

OMG that would be ridicoulsy AWESOME.

Nope, just a straight pipe with a small muffler. The stock exhaust is ridiculously huge.

tysonK 2004-06-29 06:36 PM

arrgh!

Just get Ti and save even more weight!

I think the S2000 Mugen Ti exhaust is only like $3000.

hold on here's one for $799 cat-back..

I too will have a new exhaust on board for the next event, as well as more neg camber. Look out 8)

dknv 2004-06-29 07:02 PM

I love that picture!

Yep, the 2 S2000's were very different. You guys should give one a try. It's pretty surprising compared to the wrx.

I think Pat is on to something. An afternoon RNP challenge (time permitting):

Ideas:
best pax in whichever car you drive gets my SCCA Speed GT windshield banner ( or some other prize we can all agree on).

you still have that!?!?

We should at least dry-fit it to one of our windshields to take pictures!

Scott?
