How fast are you?
like "fast" in a straight line?

or fast like, a fast driver?

money=velocity

MattR 2003-05-25 09:54 PM

Then how do you know that your fast? Wanna race a DSM race with $800 in mods? If your fast, you should take him.

dcfc03 - fast as in a strait line. And money doesn't always buy velocity you need to be a good driver and a smart one too. Tuning abilities are key.

yah it does buy velocity, and good tires, and body kits, and happy meals, thats what money does, it buys things. So you are right it doesn't always buy it but it could. Of course if you pay somebody to make your car fast and they crank boost to 26 psi and blow your engine then I guess money might buy problems, so take into account a certain amount of germane automotive knowledge. I think even really crappy stupid driver can drive a very powerful car and make it look fast, in a straight line. How do you tell if someone is a good driver, do you let two people race the same car against each other and then who ever gets the fastest 1/4 mile is the best driver(good driver). I'm just all stuck on the straight line thing cause I spent a butt load of money on auto-x this weekend. I'll even admit that I did pretty crappy the second day but I still beat out some people, but I doubt that makes me a good driver. And I saw a nice vette look really slow through cones, but in a drag race they would do great.

STIwish 2003-05-25 10:25 PM

And to the current point of this thread 'My wallet is thicker than your wallet' SO 'My car is faster than your car'.

tysonK 2003-05-25 10:31 PM

that's kinda was I was trying to say. I'm not sure how fast, fast really is, but it must be pretty fast.

Like I said, it doesn't ALWAYS buy velocity. I know a guy with a large amount of mods in this car and the car has the capability to run 11s... but his fastest time to date is a 13.0.. at BEST. He usually gets mid to high 13s. He just needs someone to tune it.. which i guess money does buy :P But you see my point..

What classifies a good driver is that he just doesn't suck! He knows how to shift properly.. take turns propely.. drive the right speeds.. blah blah blah..

tysonK 2003-05-26 12:44 PM

ok, not sucking

dayofpain 2003-05-27 09:03 AM

whats the difference between a 1000 hp supra that runs 12's and a 600 hp supra that runs 12's??

50 g...

STIwish 2003-05-27 01:43 PM

Yeah cause its just about impossible to get the Supra outta the 12s due to rear suspension design... 600/1000/2000.. dont matter if you cant get traction :)

I agree! Thats why ya'll should race from a roll...

STIwish 2003-05-28 07:23 PM

Racing from a roll is like masturbation.. it may feel good but its not real sex.

BOO 2003-05-28 08:06 PM

Hmm , A little too personal dont you think ?? LMAO

tysonK 2003-05-28 08:37 PM

Anyways. How is all that modding going? Have you broke anything important? Dropped any interior screws into the gas cap release mechanism like I did?

STIwish 2003-05-28 11:48 PM

Im having one hell of a frustrating time of it... I cant even find brass fittings that fit right in this damn town.. i need a home depot.. my boost gauge is leaking at the last fitting due to a nut with jacked up threads.. so i cant finish the install.. the MBC was an easy install but i had to take it off due to not being able to tune it... the downpipe is next after i finish the damn boost controller.. and i have a Bosal Catback coming this paycheck.. and a Fumoto valve as well.. and maybe a Godspeed downpipe... hopefully I will have better luck after this boost gauge install.. wish i had ur guy's help.

ArthurS 2003-05-29 06:36 AM

You can always come down and we can have a install fest again......I still wanna smoke my taillights and towards the end of june, I will have a uppipe to install.
