Here's a few quick shots from this weekends event...

First, Mike tries a new brake cooling method, then you see the carnage. My bumper is currently zip-tied on...but at least I could finish the race...

How's the cone look? Did you have to life-flight it outta there to Pat's shop?

Its ballistic path probably took it most of the way there. :p

Did the stongard help at all to at least protect the finish, or is it hashed?

Sorry, dude :(

Yeah, the clearbra appears to have done its job, but the cracks in the bumper suck.

From the picture, it looks like Mike hit one also, just about an inch or two further down the bumper.

And how did hitting a cone with the bumper tear off your fender liner?

doubleurx 2005-08-29 08:32 AM

Yikes boys. Still I bet you had a blast. Nice work! Those subaru fender liners seem to just fly off cars.

Go hit a cone at 110mph and I suspect you'll find out!

We hit the same cone at the same spot on the car at the same speed. Somehow my car survived though. For some reason the chicane in the middle of the long straight was a little tighter this time around, and this is what happened when we tried to make it through without lifting. Hitting a cone in 5th gear flat out makes an unpleasant noise :(

So, here are some more pictures I finally uploaded from the weekend.

MattR 2005-09-07 09:18 PM

In the 3rd to last picture, you can see the marks on our bumpers are almost identical. That's why that cone was named the Subaru Cone by the end of the day

Also, my air filter took a digger.

Nothing a tall, refreshing glass of SuperBlue wouldn't cure.

Hey, we should market a hybrid hydration/energy drink and call it SuperBlue and sell it at racetracks during club track days! :p
