You guys are right, you would have left before it even got there, does that really discount the human life that stayed, for whatever thier reason may be? This is a major tragity and it has effected us all, clearly shown in how this has spilled into most of the topics of late. Why is the feeling so negetive and speculitive as too who should be worthy of saving. This country is everything if nothing all about the people, and the people who live here. The US does make promisses to its people to keep them safe. I really am verry confused about what hell I'm even talking about because we are talking about fellow American's. I am no greater then anyone, but great enough know the difference, Come'on people show some compassion. |
Well...I am not going to do any "If I was there statements" but I am going to slap down some ideas to make you think. Things to keep in mind before you read this. I am a philosophy major, I have strange ideas, I make ghandi look like a raging right wing republican. Get ready for conspiracy theory.
I for one absolutely do NOT believe the government could not mobilize help until 5 days. That is complete and utter bullshit. How did we respond to 9/11 so quickly? How do we respond to EVERY OTHER NATURAL DISASTER SO QUICKLY? Because we could, because we have the power to, because even when we don't know that a disaster is comming we can respond to it(Although I still believe we allowed 9/11 to happen...we just didnt realize how much dmg it was actually going to do.). This was a test essentially of how our citizenry would react. And being the worthless pieces of shit that we are...we just how they wanted us to. This has shown how absolitely dependent we are on our government. What better way to rule your people than through making them feel helpless without you. I garuantee you the average american would slit his next door neighbor's throat to garuantee his own saftey. Now for some stuff on the true conspiracy side. Three months before this Katrina hit something came up nationwide on our news. Terrorists had threatened us with a devistating attack. The EXACT date that Katrina hit happened to be the same date of this attack. Scientists around the world have been exploring weather manipulation for several years now and the technology is actually common place. We even use it here in Reno; we seed clouds so that it will snow and we can have better skiing. But the technology for creating something as unpredictible and strong as a huricane surely does not exist, right? Quite possibly wrong, several ex US CIA operatives have come forword saying the technology does indeed exist. The ex CIA say that the technology can be used to terraform a desert into a rainforest, frozen tundra into swamp land, and even create forces such as tornadoes and hurricanes. The hurricane managed to take the perfect path to hit the direct middle of NO, and I mean center as in mathmatically perfect middle of NO. However, it did not hit the center of NO...it suddenly made a change of direction at the last second and it headed east. What made it make this sudden movement? A burst of hot air comming down from a jetstream, that was in the OPPOSITE direction of the jetstream, forced the hurricane east. Our only defense was to blow it away as much as we could, it could not be reached earlier and obviously creating a hurricane to counteract the current hurricane wouldn't work, in fact that would make it even worst. Ok, now onto how the people are acting in NO: the three big names from anchient philosophy come to mind. Plato and his hommies explain to us the dynamics of a mob. People act differently when so many of them assemble and are in one place. Your entire mindset changes when you are put into a situation like this and you feel that if you differntiate from the mob that you are an outcast and your since of being secure and safe is shattered. Thus you stand idley by as you watch young girls get brutally raped. Better her than you anyway, right?! It is empirically proven that people are amazed at other peoples misfortune and it hard to look away. A famous case of this was when an elderly lady was stabbed in an intersection and only 1 out of 37 people watching called the police...and that was nearly 7 minutes after it occured. When you pass a car wreck what do you do? You slow way the *&^% down and look...sadly the same thing goes for a rape. Further compounding this is the syndrome we all have called "Someone else will solve it" syndrome. This syndrome makes us sit idley by while the world passes us by, or in this case while girls are raped. *pant pant* Ok, thats enough to distract you guys from your arguing for awhile. Time for you to argue with the nothern nevada debate champion and national qualifier in HS speech and debate =P. Btw if anyone ever wants to know about anything out of the ordinary like conspiracy(not just about the US), aliens, giants, etc...just give me a pm...chances are I can share some knowledge and send you to some litterature on the subject not to mention some documented FACTS about things that will blow your mind, or at least they did mine. |
Duckie, I'm just going to apply Occam's Razor to your theory.
Is it more likely that the US government used top secret weather manipulation devices to create and later control a Hurricane to be used as a means of controling the US population by showing us how reliant we are on our government. or Is it more likely that someone or someones in the government dropped the ball getting the relief effort going fast enough allowing many people to die unecessarily in a natural disaster the size of which is unprecedented in the US. Like you said, people tend to stop and watch the suffering of others. Instead of pre-emptively stockpiling food, water and medicine in the days before the Hurricane hit, everyone just sat around and went "holy crap that's a big storm, and it's gonna totally fuck New Orleans". Besides, if the purpose of this "man-made" disaster was to prove to the people of the US how much we need the government, the government totally fucked that up too, since I think the biggest thing they've shown is that we're dependent on a government that *can't* help us when the shit really hits the fan. I'm not one to disregard conspiracy theories simply because they're unpopular. But they've got to make more sense than the popular theory. |
Well, we certainly got off topic from the original post, however it certainly is interesting.
When 9/11 happened not only the entire US, be it government or the citizens but the entire world rushed to help. When the Tsumani struck in Asia. The US, as well as, the entire world rose up and helped. Katrina hits New Orleans and what????? It's such a political and touchy topic. I for one am looking forward to the upcoming elections. |

As far as the purpose of the "man made" disaster goes, you misunderstand me. It was not created by the US for the purpose of showing that the people needed them to survive. Rather, it was created to do harm to the US, which it obviously did(man made or not). My point about dependency on government was them not immediatly mobilizing into action, they simply saw that NO was going to get screwed and figured they might as well prove a point by not mobolizing.
The whole blowing it away at the last second was just to make sure that it wasn't devistating to the point that the government itself was hurt. Hehe, and I am not crazy, I just like putting radical ideas in people's heads which will hopefully take a debate in a new direction. Because the way it was going with the "I have a bigger penis and therefore would be able to survive far better than you in NO" was getting outta hand. So I decided I would put a quarter on the train tracks. |
