They do this pretty equally well in the dry, wet, and even snow. Nobody really gets a saving throw on ice, but they do OK...

Yeah, their predictability seemed to be their most notable quality while I was horsing around.

Herds of snow donkeys on Beaumont tonight! Too many cars either couldn't stop going down the hill and over the curbs, or couldn't get traction coming up the hill. I couldn't believe the weird squiggles that tires can make when traction is gone. Wish I could get some pictures.

Luckily I got the Blizzak Revos this year, its nearly as good as the TFG's. Going down the hill, coming back up, no problem-o ....

While I was doing a bunch of donuts and doriftos in our empty work parking lot, a coworker stuffed his Kia Rio into a curb on the way out of the other side. Fubared his control arm. I am now convinced that, short of 4"+ of standing snow on the road, I don't really need a 4WD, although I plan to have another by next winter anyway. And 10k.8k coilovers with almost 2" of lowering probably won't help my winter traction much either.

Nick Koan 2006-02-17 11:00 PM

On the way to dinner, Scott and I saw 3 wrecks

Ezdno 2006-02-18 12:04 AM

Well I am torn between installing my blizzaks with about a month of winter left or just trying to make it on the falkens.

My "used" Blizzaks are brand new, the chick has a kia or suzuki suv thing that the tires were too short, she put them on then took them off. I know the falkens are snow donkies waiting to happen though.

I didnt see any wrecks on the way home, but SV was already iced over about 8pm

I was getting on to 395 N from S. Virginia tonight and some asshat in a mustang, with plus sized wheels/tires, tried to pass someone, got sideways and launched off the ramp!

DARKSTI 2006-02-18 12:22 AM

Yea, they had Mae Anne blocked off from Robb to Ambassador 1 cop at each intersection due to ice, to give an idea how bad it was, I was spinning at 1500rpm, barely any gas. I made it out tho :D

Is that what that was? Nick and I passed that one.

This was at about 9pm. The car ended up to the left of the roadway. This happened with a one car buffer in front of me.

Bump, after driving to S.F. Sunday morning and back Sunday night I wish I had my camera then. Cory asked were the Snow Donkeys were on the snow shoveling thread. The wife called about going to lunch so on the road I went. Figured the Snow Donkeys had to be around in town, so the camera came along.

The first was just a pickup that must have been Donkey related. The female is standing in the street looking for what direction the donkey ran in. I was to late to get the donkey in the picture but I think he was not far away.

The second picture. The Snow Donkey did not make any contact with these folks. Instead, the Donkey confused the group with Donkey Mind Bomb. They all had to stand outside and look at the tire chains while one person worked.

I have to pick up my better half tonight and maybe just maybe I'll get a shot of the Snow Donkey at work.

I heard there is plenty of snow donkey action in the roundabouts around truckee. Gonna go investigate here in a few.

I also had the "pleasure" of driving home from the Bay Area Sunday Night. Took about 5 hours to get from Auburn to Stead. My poor clutch. :(

Only 5? I was hearing horror stories of like 8-12 hour delays

I too came back from Sac area on Sunday. We left Roseville at 12:30pm and I finally made it home at 6:30 pm.

About half way down 80 coming into Reno, there was a black wrx wagon parked on the side of the road with half its front bumper missing. Anyone else see that one? That was the only Subaru fatality I saw.

My car has Blizzak Revo's on it, all I can say is that I pissed off about 300 cars that I passed once I got past the chain monkeys. I can't tell you how many people flipped me off. Hell, I was only doing 25 - 30 mph.

sperry 2007-02-27 04:57 PM

"Donkey Mind Bomb"...

I was surprised at how well my Proxes 4's did. I also used the "Subaru Lane" and passed loads of people who thought that 80 should only be one lane.

I did notice a Subaru pulled off to the side in deep snow, but I though it was an Outback...visibility was pretty bad though.

Maybe going the opposite direction? They were stopping Westbound traffic at Stateline according to the Caltrans Hotlline.

Yeah, going the opposite direction. I watched the news on Sunday night, then left to come back down here at like 4:30AM Monday, there were still a metric buttload of people heading west, at least on 50. Including a van that thought 10 mph was the maximum speed limit with chains.

Tried to go to Truckee today, about 3pm.....no way Jose. Turned around at last Verdi exit.

Well it came time to leave the house to pick up the better half from work. Westbound was held again so it was time to go thru town. Wow, it looked like new years week. Everything was stopped and everyone was on there cellphones.

After picking up the wife, things finally got a little more interesting. Actually, alot more interesting with a snow donkey sighting. Finally the little guy caught on film at the seen of a big rigs demise as it was stuck on the Central Truckee off ramp. Yep caught red handed. We have you Snow Donkey, your time is limited. Spring is coming soon.

Never dis someone going slow in the snow. Reserve all ridicule and disdain for the morons in 2+ ton SUVs and pickup trucks and other vehicles going 50MPH+ without a physics exemption in effect. Someone going slow is unlikely to injure or kill anyone. The same cannot be said for the later.

That's a good one.
