Sun Valley Blvd resembled more of a river than a road, the Sheriffs had SvB blocked at Dandini, no one allowed in. The Skate and BMX park on 7th ave. is completely under water and you can see just the tops of the warning signs, looks about 3 ft from over flowing completely. 7th ave coming down from Golden Valley is a complete raging river.

We came back around 2pm and you could get in SV, but the Skate park and the intersection at 7th and SVB is still flooded. The Dam right behind Wild Creek on El Rancho is full of water and the gazebo roof is all you can see.

3:19 pm and its blue skies and snowing in SV.

395 right in the middle of Carson had its own little lake going on as well. I nearly floated to work.

On my way to Tahoe City.....

I left my house, in Double Diamond, at 2pm. There was a small river, easily crossable, on Double R Blvd. between Double Diamond Drive and Damonte Ranch Parkway.

I heard traffic was being held on 431 so I tried to get through that way. It should have been designated CLOSED because closed it was. I can sometimes get through during extreme conditions due to a few stickers on my van, combined with AWD and Blizzaks...but not this time.

I hit 395 and headed South. I must have hit it just right as it was now open, approx. 2:30pm. The water on the side of the road looked like something that could have been "boogie-boarded." Wow!

I had to turn the sterring wheel about an 1/8 turn to the right to combat the winds, noting the semi trailer that lay on it's side from yesterday.

I got to Carson City and endured the traffic to hwy 50, WHICH WAS OPEN!!!!!

This was my only chance to get to work. I headed up 50, dodging many rookie snow drivers on the way. Chain controls were on although it was raining a good part of the way, followed by light snow after about 5500 feet.

Highway 28 was a breeze all the way to Tahoe City.

It took me about 2.5 hours to make it.

The management of the place where I play, on NYE, was amazed that I made it. Employees of theirs had called and stated that there was no way they could make it in from Reno.

My stuff is set up, I had dinner, a shower and checked into my room. I'm staying put tonight.

Have a safe NYE all!

As I understand it, 431 was closed because they were blasting for avalanches... no tires are MS&A rated AFAIK. ;)

Word...and pics of the cattle truck that crashed. I was on my way to Truckee to meet up with friends Friday night but all westbound cars were turned around in Verdi. East bound traffic was unafected.

Awesome pics and video peoples.
