I'm sure Subaru has valid reasons for putting RE92s on the cars.

Yup.

They are 'okay' in almost every situtation, have a very long life (if you don't abuse them) and they probably are a fraction of the cost of any other decent all season.

I'd bet your average driver wouldn't even notice better all season tires either.

I bet those reasons are to do with cost, rather than performance

I'm apt to agree.

I've run worse all-seasons.

Pep Boys' brand (4 tires installed for $100) or whatever?

I thought Bob Barker would be a little more original.

At any rate, ditching the re92s is a given. I don't think we need to discuss exactly how bad they suck.

Let's stay constructive, people! Let's find some other stock parts that blow goats and suggest some replacements!

I'd highly recommend a clear bra.

Seconded as my car is only on its second winter (bought it last winter) and is majorly owned. Subaru paint is lame.

Ezdno 2006-02-04 10:58 PM

I like clear bra's so I can see the nipple more clearly

oh wait, we're not talking about the same thing are we?

They are good. Slightly overpriced in my opinion, but you get what you pay for.

Nothing wrong with them, but apart from the AccessPORT, you could get better hardware for less money elsewhere. What components are you looking for? For exhaust, I'm a fan of Crucial Racing...especially their Downpipe.

Wrx Tranny!

Kevin M 2006-02-10 01:52 AM

The STi payment mod fixes that one a lot cheaper than actually doign anything to your WRX tranny.

cody 2006-02-10 08:15 AM

You don't save much money by preemptively replacing the stock gears in a WRX. As long as you aren't shock loading the tranny excessively or running tons more power than stock, it usually remains trouble free.

And STI payments aren't too bad, but the cost to insure them is.
