well it's not an F1 car I know that.

JPM may get to run in Montreal if he stays in Bush for a season.
Montreal will be added to Bush schedule.

Yeah, I think his Busch seat for next year is pretty much a given... unless they bump him to Cup.

Qualifying at a plate track is hardly an indicator of how well you can drive a stock car at the limit though.

MattR 2006-10-06 06:09 AM

Of Course...When he get's into the draft he'll find out what's so hard about stock car racing.

He's at least got some of it down:

When was the last time an F1 driver mentioned "the guys back in the shop"?

Hmm, I think the sponsorship for this race has gone horribly wrong.

TALLADEGA AL (10-5-06) - ARCA RE/MAX Series veteran Bobby Gerhart is known as the “Restrictor Plate King” for good reason. The Pennsylvania native is the 2001 ARCA RE/MAX Series Talladega race winner, and has won at Daytona International Speedway four times (1999, 2002, 2005, 2006). Gerhart showed off his superspeedway prowess Thursday afternoon at Talladega, where he claimed his third career Talladega Pork Pole and ninth overall with a speed of 189.485 mph (50.537 seconds) around the 2.66-mile superspeedway. He sits on the Pork Pole for Friday’s Food World 250 ARCA RE/MAX Series race alongside Juan Pablo Montoya.

Kevin M 2006-10-06 08:33 AM

Oh good lord that's funny!

So you're saying JPM sandbagged his qually lap just to avoid international "pork pole" ridicule? I believe it.

MattR 2006-10-06 08:46 AM

I sure would .

For some reason, Pork is a big sponsor in the ARCA series, they sponsor a Car, as well as other races. This is also the series with title sponsors like Propane and Graceland.

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-10-06 09:40 AM

Pork is big out here, boy.

I hear chemical fires are also all the rage out in North Cackalacky.

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-10-06 10:04 AM

Yup. That's only a few miles from my house.

MattR 2006-10-06 10:19 AM

I'm watching that fire on Headline News, Damn!!!!!!!

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-10-06 10:32 AM

Laura heard the explosions popping off out the window late last night.. I was dead to the world so I missed it. Fortunately the chlorine gas cloud doesn't seem to be heading for our place, and the rain is helping to scrub the air.

MattR 2006-10-06 10:52 AM

There's nothing quite like starting the day with a Chroline Gas Cloud overhead...Glad you guys are okay, that stuff can get nasty.

Yet another sign we live in the future.

Nick Koan 2006-10-06 05:15 PM

Holy crap, I'm watching some roundy round!

Nice start for JPM.

Dean 2006-10-06 06:10 PM

Down to 31st, and back to seccond!

Dean 2006-10-06 06:10 PM

Ouch!

MattR 2006-10-06 07:42 PM

Yeah, typical crappy Arca event planning. They start a race at dusk on a track with no lights!!!! So the event got cut short for darkness...

Anyway, JPM did a great job, he looked pretty confortable in the draft and held on to finish in 3rd place.

MattR 2006-10-29 07:46 PM

JPM 11th at Memphis this weekend, overall ran a very clean race. Id say he's progressing quickly. It looks as if he'll attempt a cup start at Miami-Homestead to finish out this season...Should be intersting.

Also, on a side note, AJ Allmendinger is giving NASCAR a go, and he's looking great in the truck series thus far. Next year there are going to be as many as 50 full-time cup teams :wow: of which only 43 make each race. Should be very competitive.

Kevin M 2006-10-29 09:49 PM

What series is Allmendinger (what a horrible race car driver name!) from?

Nick Koan 2006-10-29 11:18 PM

CART
