It was a pretty crazy two days. We had an appointment to induce labor on thursday morning, but she went into labor on her own about 1am that day. After that, everything happened pretty fast - we got checked in at the hospital just before 10AM and called family, and then I spent a bit of the day doing some shopping to pick up some last-minute needs and food for the stay. The rest of the time was spent doting on my wife or chatting with my immediate family.

She finally started to deliver right as I was coming back from picking up dinner, and only ended up having to push for about 20 minutes. Wes was born at 7:24PM. My wife was a trooper; it went fast, and we were all in awe to find that he weighed in at 9lbs, 9oz at birth! OMGZORZ. He's a heavy guy.

Anyhoo, big or no, he's still a cranky little newborn, and we got very little sleep that night. Friday was spent watching over my wife to see if she would be ok to leave the hospital that day (birthing a 9lb child tends to leave one in less than optimal condition), and we got to leave about 5PM. That evening my son decided that it was time for MILK, and that if he didn't get any his displeasure would be heard. Unfortunately for all involved (including my neighbors), there was little to be had from mommy just yet, so last night was even longer than the previous. :(

Fortunately, it seems that he's quite comfortable with the sound of my Stromung exhaust and a little John Williams in the background, so taking a drive settles him down a bit.

I know, but that was my excuse just for this weekend. I'll use "months and months" when I have to come up with an excuse for being tired and grumpy at work.

Here's a pic. The general consensus so far is that he got his mommy's eyes, and my ears, chin, and whopper of a nose. :P

Oh, and Carrie won women's Pax today...w00t!!!!!

Nick Koan 2006-09-10 06:07 PM

That was a lot of fun out there. I was hitting 3rd gear a few times (short-shifting a little bit).

It was an awesome event. Except for the planes taking off and landing.

Congratulations...Racers and new daddys alike. My high school friends are all making babies too. I like holding them as long as they're happy...

Jeramiah, I think Comfrey Tea (or some tea) is good for stimulating milk production.

MikeK 2006-09-10 08:33 PM

Congratulations to:

- Jeremiah: new spawn
- Matt: Won pax today
- Carrie: Won ladies pax today
- Derrick: Pulled an unbelievable run out of some orifice to get the wagon up to 6th in pax today! Plus had big improvements from first to last run on both days. Great job!

The course both days was fast (as expected), over 80 mph in the STi in several spots on the track, 3rd and 4th gear slaloms, it was a blast!

Thanks for the props and I owe it all to the Micheal Jackson magnet. I ran the last run on Sunday with the "Jackson emblem" upside down and it worked for a rippin fast run.

MattR 2006-09-11 01:27 PM

Seriously D, you had some sweet runs man. I was impressed. It's good to see a wagon out there again, ahhh, the good old days.

Nick Koan 2006-09-11 03:15 PM

Seriously Derrick. I got some good runs for myself (about where I've been all season PAX-wise) but you still blew me away by a few seconds each day. And to think, we were pretty even on the last few events.

cody 2006-09-11 03:20 PM

MJ magnet puts you in SM.

Did you figure out that is was all about the magnet. You did run away with it Sunday afternoon. I think I'll need it back next month. Maby after giving the starter the nice cold bottle of water, he staged me a few inchs back. :D

Nick Koan 2006-09-11 03:24 PM

Did you really stick it on for a run or two? No, I didn't notice but heh, I guess it did something :p

I ran with it all day like a badge of honor but inverted it on the last run along with my DB tuned advert. I think you said something like you've got it, no pressure before my last run also.

Nick Koan 2006-09-11 03:29 PM

Ah, I thought you meant you put it on the back of my car at some point.

Yeah, I had to go stick it on Pat R.'s vehicle for the drive back to Reno. I think he may have found it before too long, though.

Big FAT negative on SM. It would fall under cosmetic trim.

cody 2006-09-11 03:46 PM

I don't know, it's roughly the same as upgrading your turbo.

Kevin M 2006-09-11 03:47 PM

I think it should cancel the street tire PAX.

Pat R. 2006-09-11 03:52 PM

*Runs out and checks car & truck*

BASTARD!!!!!
