 we were talking about smashing it over the rear wing (totally rice) but figured we'd destroy the wing before even chipping the bottle. (that wing is rice)

So what I'm getting here is that the wing is rice... He should take it off and have the holes in the trunk filled. It's probably just dead weight anyway.

Actually, the wing looks cool, and is supposedly useful at high speed (according to Subaru). The problem with it, it totally blocks your vew of the road out the rearview. :x

I RIKE RICE!

Well, I would still doubt it until I saw some downforce numbers from wind tunnel testing. They can talk all they want, but OEM wings/spoilers on production cars rarely do anything except add weight and increase drag.

Matt, if you decide you wanna get rid of the RICE spoiler, talk to me huh? lol, I want :)

All I can say is what I've read from Subaru press releases, with the disclaimer that I'm just repeating what Subaru said. I can imagine there's a reason that wing is so damn high. I doubt they'd block the rear view without it being functional. Plus, it's right at the same height as the WRC wing (and I know the WRC wing is engineered to be right in the airstream), it's just missing the extra verticle surfaces.

It works. There are wind tunnel numbers for the old wing floating around. Prodrive has access to a wind tunnel, which they do use.

There was a very interesting article on SWRT.com this season, (in the beginning), about the new WRC wing, and how it is actually engineered for straight ahead downforce, as well as lateral downforce for when the car is sliding sideways  cool huh. I also read that the spoiler stabilizes the car at speeds as low as 70. Phil has an intersting story about spoilers on WRX's involvong a trip to vegas, while I like them most for looks, I would love it if it actually worked.

out of all the wings out there, I would only get the STi wing for my car. my 2 cents. :?
