 My car stopped being a 2-driver car when it became so hard to drive I couldn't even keep it pointed straight (not to mention the whole oil spilling/smoke spewing aspect of the catch cans  )

Scott,

Lemme know if you want to mess around with a QR wheel. I got a full NRG setup on a whim, but won't have the red car for long and don't want to sacrifice cruise on the hoopty. All you have to fab is a scraper for the horn disk. The setup is super, super solid, and migh tmake it easier for your lanky ass to get in and out. I'll bring it up with me next time I come up.

I was planning on ordering up wheel from Nick at Speedware (if I ever get enough time to call him up and confirm the damn order, I suck at returning calls)... same wheel as Cory's, since it's got a nice deep dish that gives my legs room and allows me to sit back a bit.

What wheel do you have? When are you bringing your ass up to Reno? (I've got that rear STB to sell you, remember!) :P

loooks very nice. what kind of metal is it? if it's steel, is it getting painted?

Libila 2007-03-07 06:16 AM

That looks awesome Scott!

MPREZIV 2007-03-07 07:36 AM

Dude that is PIMPIN!!!! And not in the "token black guy Bling Bling" sense of the word... in the "i'm terribly jealous of your car" sense!

And yes, as you mentioned, that Sparco 325 is the best wheel EVAR for a tall guy!

Well, the wheel is whatever NRG wheel (3 spoke, nice grip, red stitching), but I might have a Sparco 2" dish 2-spoke with a rally stripe in suede shortly, which would work better, or I have a Sparco D-shaped wheel, which, if you can get over not being round, gives you a ton of leg clearance. Old ass pic, this isn't with the QR.

The cool part is the short hub (it's like .75" deep) and the QR, which will work with any wheel.

I'll take some pics. I might try and come up weekend after next, but we'll see what's going on.

I was leaning towards a D wheel until I sat in Cory's car... the 65mm dish gives me a ton of leg clearance and allows me to hand-over-hand comfortably which I'll need because I still have the slow-ass OEM WRX steering rack. Also, I certainly don't need a short depth hub/QR... in fact I was planning on a spacer with the wheel to really get "all up on it" without having to cramp my legs.

It's steel, and I'm assuming it's getting painted. I'm assuming the dash is back in just for fitment reasons, and they'll yank it off again and get a nice coat of paint over it. I told Mike to have 'em paint it red, but if they do it in the standard black, I won't complain.

I vote for pink!

I remember when your "big mod" was 18" Rotas. Seems like such a long time ago. Can't wait to see her "finished".

Forget painting it, just get a bunch of pictures of naked ladies and paste them all over the inside of your car. i saw that in a movie once...

Porn is the ultimate antioxidant.

So the back seat assembly is permanently gone now? If so I would add a couple of bars in that area.

There's not much I can add, since I can't add additional connections to the chassis... I'm only allowed 6 points, plus the optional 2 to the firewall. I don't know that additional bars from the current points will really make it much safer, just heavier... but then again, I haven't seen the cage in person yet, all I know is what you can see in the pics, and that this cage is the "standard" sort of design they use for Showroom Stock cars.

What I'm talking about doesn't require additional chassis points, you're connecting between existing cage bars - see drawings for a visual. Those 2 bars would increase the cage stiffness quite a bit and improve cabin integrity in a rear-facing impact (like backing it into a wall).

Found some build pics of the yellow car too.

Did it have a "Darlington Stripe" on the driver's side? If so, then yes:lol:
