If I make it to a disc meet, I'll be pack a Discraft 175.....

MPREZIV 2008-05-03 10:32 AM

I took my 185 to work to chuck around with Bob on lunch. He whines like a girl.

[Whining Little Girl Voice] "It's too heavy! It hurts my hand! I don' wanna play!!" [/WLGV]

Dean 2008-05-03 10:45 AM

Damn, I thought my Master 165 was heavy. You guys are packing serious heat.

I have an Omni HDR model Frisbee that that is only a 160, but it is 2 piece construction. The top is really thin and smooth and the rim is much heavier plastic. It hurts like a bitch if you catch it without moving your hand with it or it tags a knuckle.

Tyson might marginally approve of it for golf though because it has a very smooth profile and throws well for distance. (Had to include some golf content or Tyson would yell at us again for Fing up his thread.)

Approved.

Most of my driver disc are like 167+

Hey i Resent that comment, oh wait, no I resemble that comment. Except I my lost my 3rd eye blind CD . :(

If anyone wants to come play at zephyr or Bijou let me know , I have extra discs as well . I'm usually a few over par to a lot over par :( ! Bijou is great btw, i love how there are big no dogs and no bottle signs and 1/4 of the locals show up with dogs and 80% shows up with bottled beer.

BTW if you play zephyr probably plan to lose a disc its a rough course.

How the heck do you lose a 10-12"+ diameter brightly colored piece of plastic? Are you playing in a corn field? Even then, it is a 10-12"+ diameter brightly colored piece of plastic. Maybe it is surrounded by inaccessible roofs and kite, I mean Frisbee eating trees?

Nick Koan 2008-05-05 12:57 PM

Disc Golf disks fly farther than frisbees, and they can fly out of your sight. And on a rough course and with a bad landing, it can make finding the disc quite a chore (or impossible if they fall into an inaccessible area like a canyon or lake or something).

"Ever take your clothes off and run backwards through a cornfield?"

Yeah you lose discs in the manzanita(sp) in at Zephyr, I lost my favorite eagle there a long time ago.

A1337STI 2008-05-05 03:58 PM

and yes Trees will also eat your discs. If you play at bijou after a very Windy night, you'll find a few discs that got blown out of a tree.

yeah the under brush hides them well, also its possible in spots to have it fall in between rocks/ boulders and if you didn't see it go in there. Good Luck!

Dean 2008-05-05 04:07 PM

What, you don't carry wrist rockets or BB guns to get them out of trees? :)

They work well on pesky dogs too. ;)

I like to get 14 of my closest hippy friends and protest the tree until it releases my frisbee. Then I hug it out with my coniferous brother afterwards.

Looks like great weather coming this weekend, and now I have official golf discs... Anybody want to play? Tyson?

I need to learn how to throw these tiny things...

tysonK 2008-10-22 03:23 PM

Well I am going to Tahoe Vista Course Thursday mid morning.
I guess you turn on National...I've never been there.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

I'll be at the Rancho Course, probably Friday Morn and Afternoon, and most days after 4:15pm

Does that mean you would be willing to have a n00b join you, or not?

When, where?

tysonK 2008-10-22 03:44 PM

I guess my ninja edit was not fast enough...

pm me.

cody 2008-10-22 03:45 PM

I love disc golf...I've only played once and it was in Desolation Wilderness, but I love it! :D

Unfortunately, the GF's parents are coming into town this weekend, so I'll be busy.

tysonK 2008-10-22 03:47 PM

Well let me know, like I posted I'll probably be at the rancho course until it gets snowed over or what not.
