Taqueria La Bamba in Mountain View. Everything in the place is in Spanish including the menu and you would not want to be there after dark. Now that's authentic...

Their Carnitas rock and everything is super fresh. More of a monster burrito place, but tacos are good as well.

I figure I did so well on my regular taco sale last year, this one should go quick!

If you are parting out your lunch, I might be interested in any other items you have for sale.

According to Wikipedia Carnitas is a cooking style that doesn't necessarily mean what type of meat is cooked in this style. But everyone I mention this too tells me that Carnitas is always pork. What say ye?

This is true, as far as I know (and as far as you guys know, I am the expert in Mexican anything on this site).

But, a majority of the time it is pork because pork takes to slow cooking sooooooo well.

I had "authentic California Mexican" food in Spain. I thought that was funny because Mexican food in the States is hardly authentic.

Holy Shit, you know where you can find the best Mexican Food Ever? Montreal!!!! OMG it's so good, and the waitresses will make fun of you if you make fun of your friends terrible spanish, even though they are speaking spanish with a shitty French accent. Good F'n times. Oh, and pass the Habanero sauce!

Usually hot sauce makes people turn red. Matt, that Habenero sauce turned you gray. Gray and sweaty.

I thought you were gonna die.

Isn't that the best kind of hot sauce? The near-death experience kind?

The best part of this thread, is the 3 other taco related threads listed in the "similar threads" at the bottom of the page!

Oh, and if anybody's interested in some debilitating hot sauce, I've got some that simply does not make sense. The crap's so hot I don't know how it doesn't melt straight through the bottle...

Nick Koan 2008-07-24 01:38 PM

If you are willing to part out the taco, I'll take the cheese and the sour cream. I don't really have a need for the beef, shell or lettuce though.

Mexican food?

Tuscon. Mi Nidito.

I don't know why I'm not on their "famous guests" page, though.

Fransiscos down here in Minden is pretty tastey. Their Carne Asada is the bomb, imho.

bigrobwoot 2008-07-28 10:43 AM

best Mexican food in Carson is el aguila real, by longs (best beans at least) and tacqueria la salsa by scolari's, both on 50. La playa azul is good for a quick cheap burrito tho.
