The torch never passes, it only ignites others. We will each be remembered in our own way and harrased accordingly. While it wasn't an official "off", my 80MPh or so full throttle power slide at Stead on the Corvette course isn't going to leave anyone's memory soon I'm sure.

Yeah, but I did that one too. At least I didn't go off over a worker station, then into the runway later. :P

MikeK 2005-06-08 11:24 AM

Do we need to bring numbers to this event, or does the audi club supply them again?

MattR 2005-06-08 04:48 PM

So, can I get some input on being a beginner (I've been placed in beginner class)...Mike K, what exactly are we in for? I'm curious.

MikeK 2005-06-08 07:09 PM

You are in for a pleasant weekend of driving slowly around the track! :P

WTF are you in the beginner class for? Dean? I assumed we are all in the intermediate class? Matt how did you find out that you were in the beginner class? If it's posted in this thread that won't surprise me considering how stupid it was that I couldn't see the one tube that was flopping around with a loud hiss stealing all my boost!

sperry 2005-06-09 09:03 AM

From what I gathered Dean was instructed that all drivers new to the Audi Club are required to run in the beginner class.

However, the latest is that Dean's been able to sweet talk us back into the Intermediate group.

While I understand the AC's position that everyone should experience the exercises and classroom time that the beginner group does, it doesn't make sense to put people like Matt and I through it, since it's basically a waste of our time.

Now, I don't want to come off sounding like a pompous Schumaker wanna-be... I'm sure I would learn something in the beginner group. But for my $325, I'd like to be able to tap the resources of the Audi Club's excellent instructors at the driving level that would be most appropriate for my skill level. From what MikeK's told me, you spend the morning driving a slalom, braking exercise, and a lane toss... sounds very similar to the autocross school that I've been an instructor at for the last 2 seasons!

Anyway, I'm glad Dean's been able to move us up. Had he not, I probably would have simply asked for my money back.

doubleurx 2005-06-09 09:17 AM

Dean's the Man!

Thanks

doubleurx 2005-06-09 09:28 AM

Dean: I can't seem to access the website to download schedules etc. Could you bring me a copy tonight?

Oops! I just realized that you probably won't be there tonight. Maybe Matt or Scott or Mike?

Thanks

MikeK 2005-06-09 09:39 AM

I will print it and bring it tonight

Thanks Dean

Thanks again.

That was a great event. I managed to clean all the butterflys off before my daughter saw them this morning.

Tons of fun once again.

Dean 2005-06-13 03:22 PM

You are welcome.

All in all a good 3 days.

dknv 2005-06-13 04:03 PM

pics?

Allen_A 2005-06-14 01:15 PM

Thanks Dean!

Dean nice job on organizing this event. I had a very good time and was very happy that I didn't stack into a wall or slide off the track at Mach 10.

The class instruction was very good from Dean T.

Anyway, thanks again and if any of you have Brandon's address or email, please IM me. I have some of his stuff.

Thanks,
Allen

Some dude who owned a silver audi.

Now, for a non-jackass answer, it was aparently an instructor, and he did it the day before all the students showed up. I believe Dean said he put two tires off on the exit of turn 9.

Yes it was an instructor on his second lap of the event! Fortunately both driver and passenger only suffered bruises and an Insurance mess to follow.

Yeah, what you can't see in that picture, is Mike's radiator literally covered with butterflys. I'm suprised they didn't cause overheating issues.

I played around with the levels and contrast of the grill, and the butterflys are kinda popping out in this picture.

Ug, it kinda is making me ill looking at it again.

Fortunately they cleaned up pretty easy for me. Mike's radiator looked like some bad 70's wall paper.

sperry 2005-06-15 10:19 AM

It only took me about 20 minutes w/ the high-pressure setting on the hose nozzle and a bucket and a sponge to get the carnage off the front of my car.

Tuco 2005-06-15 10:27 AM

Hey guys,

This is Tim w/ the Nogaro Blue S4 Avant. It was kewl to meet up with some of you as well as catch up w/ Michael. I'm green in envy as your cars are so stable through the esses. What a speed gap between my conservative 105 'ish to your speeds through there (ask Mike as he felt how soft the suspension was). It would've been fun to have spent more time in your cars for the weekend. But it wrapped up on a good note as Allen came by for his last session and asked me to join him. It was a lot of fun and a good way to wrap up the weekend.

T.
