SECCS snow day at Rose?
|
works for me, I can't wait to go rip up the mountain again. Last year I was laying carve turns down and scraping myjacket on the beautiful cordouroy.
|
Heavenly = my favorite. During my ski heyday, I skied there 40+ days, and learned how to ski the face. (Nick, short runs? I think the run from the top to the bottom is like 5 miles.) But on weekends, boy are you right, about the tourists and lines. Retail ticket price sucks too.
Alpine is my 2nd favorite location, but 1st in value for quality. (Truckee Nick, you guys are so lucky to have that.) |
Top to bottom, never did that full run. But, every other run I went on was extremely sort on that mountain, unless you start chaining runs together.
The other thing I don't like about Heavenly is that they are very strict about going through the trees. |

Alpine is my fav. The $39 dollars last year is possibly the best deal in the country for terrian vs money.
Northstar blows. They seem to really over sell thier pass. parking sucks, lift lines are horrible and its flat. I got the double wammy pass a couple of years ago and will never step foot on Northstar again. Waiting in mile long traffic outside the resort, circling the parking lot like a vulture, waiting in lines an hour to get to the top of the mnt for one over crowded run isnt for me. Three to four hours for one run just isnt fun. Rose is a great deal, but the 900 acres gets small really fast. By mid season I was burnt out and hitting other resorts. But it is close and great for getting in a couple of hours without devoting the entire day. I just take advantage of specials rather than doing season passes. Alpine for $39, Rose two for Tues, Kirkwood $25 mon-thurs (what a gem of a mnt if you dont mind really slow lifts), plus the free passes and tons of other stuff the resorts toss out during the season. |
free passes?
|
yeah, free day passes are given away on the radio by the butt load. Alot of the bars have ski/snowboard events were you can win free swag and passes. Most employees at the resorts can get limited free passes ( depends on the day, resort etc.), make a couple of friends that work at the resorts and you'll ocassionally score a free pass.
If free passes picqued your curiosity. Just wait till you go to a demo day. You get to ski/board as many models as your legs can stand. All for free. However the pain in ass salesmen are there trying to sell you stuff. Finda like test driving cars, ya know. Best I can recall Cody your new to the area. I think your going to like the winter  |
I think so too. Thanks for the heads up.
