I'll be there with my girlfriend.

Dean 2006-06-16 09:03 AM

I'm back from NJ, and will be there... Anybody want to grab food beforehand?

tysonK 2006-06-16 09:08 AM

probably. yah.

Dean 2006-06-16 09:21 AM

8:00PM somewhere? Buenos Grill, Flowing Tide???

Kevin M 2006-06-16 09:34 AM

Tide sounds good.

Dean 2006-06-16 12:44 PM

Tide may be a little tough to get into on a Friday night, but what the hey. Maybe move it up to 7:45.

Kevin M 2006-06-16 01:00 PM

That's a good point. I suppose anything that's not an Austin's or Bully's would work well enough for me. :p

MikeK 2006-06-16 01:19 PM

This review made me laugh: linky

Some quotes:

"It's never explained why the most beautiful women in Japan should want to hang out in a parking lot. That's just one of the mysteries of the East."

"But Sean doesn't want anything to do with those easy conquests. He's much more interested in a high school girl (Nathalie Kelley) he met for 15 minutes one night, who happens to be the girlfriend of a Yakuza member. You see, as I strongly implied earlier, Sean is lethally stupid"

This is going to be the worst movie ever

Kevin M 2006-06-16 01:28 PM

Eggsellent.

Dean 2006-06-16 02:26 PM

We are such an apathetic group...

OK, here is the dinner plan.

Tide at 7:45. If it is to crowded we go to whatever the Mexican place next door is, and if that sucks, we go to Schlotsky's, Del Taco, Dairy Queen, or wherever.

Don't like it, then you should have f'ing posted something before now! :)

Or maybe no one's posted because there are only 3 of you that want to get dinner before the movie.

tysonK 2006-06-16 03:09 PM

I'm gonna go eat way before 7:45 so have fun.

sybir 2006-06-16 03:41 PM

Just saw it. The movie's actually much better than the first two. Not saying it's the best movie I've ever seen, but it was actually entertaining in it's own right instead of just a joke.

:D

tysonK 2006-06-16 04:50 PM

sybir approved..

damn, thats the one I was looking for.

tysonK 2006-06-16 05:20 PM

I was looking for that also.

MattR 2006-06-16 05:23 PM

See you guys in the theatre, I was going to plan on getting there by 9 or so.

JonnydaJibba 2006-06-16 10:39 PM

So how was it?

Dean 2006-06-16 10:54 PM

It was probably the best of the three, but that isn't saying a lot.

The funniest part was the guy in the front of the theatre.

Nick Koan 2006-06-16 10:59 PM

It didn't have nearly the same amount of comedy gold as the first two.

bxracer69 2006-06-16 11:42 PM

I love how he wins the race in the parking garage, and when he gets to the top and stops there is smoke comming from the back wheels of the evo, that all wheel drive is really working well.

All the cars were converted to rwd. There was some test in Sport Compact Car.

Product placement. Mits paid a decent chunk of change for that. We all know there are better looking RWD cars they could have used.

Dean 2006-06-17 09:15 AM

The Tabasco bottle placement was pretty good.

Werd. Way hotter than S2000 chick. But maybe not quite as hot as the girl from the original.

I concur. All I could think during the shot when he comes to a stop after rolling and his head is covered in Tabasco was "oh, burn!"

Hell yeah. She was super hot. Hottest by far of the three. And, her Japanese pronunciation was really good! Accent + can speak Japanese + hot = my future wife?

I thought it was really entertaining for what it was. I'll give it a :thumb:

Ima go drift now.

I didn't notice that, but the rockstar was even better....

...because they dont sell those in Japan.

Bob Danger 2006-06-19 08:23 PM

I told you guys this movie would sky rocket the value of my AE86, I had someone offer me 1600 for my hachi today! I'm holding out for more money.

On a side note I was at Mitsubishi today and I guess someone jacked a set of wheels off of an Evo RS last night. At least they had the courtesy to set the car on some rocks! Too bad they crumpled the sideskirts.

Dean 2006-06-19 08:27 PM

Why would someone steal stock Enkeis? That is what is on the EVO, right?

sp00ln 2006-06-19 09:43 PM

Good.

Because, they wore there tires down drifting!

Libila 2006-06-20 12:34 PM

Bobby, you better sell that thing while it's hot.

A1337STI 2006-06-20 03:00 PM

I was very entertained by the movie. From what i've read about the movie all the scenes were actually driven, mostly by D1 league drivers. (and various stunt drivers) pretty amazing that drivers can drift up those narrow upramps.

Kevin M 2006-06-20 03:28 PM

There were a few scenes that were clearly CGI. Like much of the final "touge battle."

JonnydaJibba 2006-06-20 03:28 PM

Reese Millen (sp?) is a bad ass.

Yeah right! I'm replacing the engine, putting on some Trueno bumpers, black wheels, and painting that bitch Panda, then i'll sell it for like 6k.

A1337STI 2006-06-20 04:40 PM

the one scene where they zoom in ultra close as the car comes with in a milimeter of the wall was CGI yes. most of the parking garage drifting was actual D1 drivers though. i think there's a cgi shot of a car drifting up the last up ramp, but i also think there's a real shot of that also. i wouldn't think they hire D1 drivers and then CGI gen all the drift scenes. :p

Kevin M 2006-06-20 04:47 PM

I think almost all of the parking garage stuff was live action. No real risk there. But there were quite a few shots on the mountain and a handful on the streets during the gunfire/explosion filled chase that were CGI.

A1337STI 2006-06-20 04:51 PM

I'll have to watch it again a bit closer. I don't see why D1 drivers would be worried about Most of the mountain scene. all the corners where they made no contact. course maybe it was cheaper / less insurance to cgi it .. :|

Like the sceen with all the people crossing the street... that was some great CGI! Note the sarcasm!

Was it just me or was the CGI sub par!

Kevin M 2006-06-20 05:32 PM

Yeah, they didn't take the time to get the lighting right. Especially since 2 of the most recent movies I've watched were MI3 and Batman Begins.

For those who never saw it, here is 3 Fast 3 3urious:

http://www.crapville.com/toon_holder.asp?ID=164

Anybody know what happened to 1/64Fast 1/64Furious? The stop-motion one with matchbox cars?

MPREZIV 2006-06-21 09:39 AM

^^ THAT WAS F*ING HILARIOUS!!! I can't believe I'd never seen that before!

sp00ln 2006-06-21 07:05 PM

The mountain run where she's casually talking about her life and how the "old times" were when they'd cut school and come up and watch the original drifters was clearly CGI.
