Anyone bored? I need help rigging up a new coolant resevoir/overflow/return tank for my car, for around $30 or so. I'm thinking this

with the top cut off and a hose running 5/8 of the way down?

That's exactly the bottle I used in my car at one point, but I removed that top nipple and just ran the overflow hose snugly through the grommet and right down to the bottom of the tank.

In fact, I've still got it sitting in a box since I switched my oil filter around and had to switch to a different setup. I've even got a bracket for fitting it under the fender in front of the LF tire. It's your for oh, $10 bucks if you want it?

'Course, unless you're going to a FMIC, you should be able to use a stock style overflow tank...

Pain in my ass
This is when having a swapped car sucks, I have to fabricate everything!

Overflow hose should go all the way to bottom of the tank so it draws back correctly.

I'd be tempted to put a clear hose between the two "stock" nipples as a "sight gauge" and drill a new hole for the overflow hose. Only need to open the valve to equalize/check the level.

Wow Van, why'd you decide to go with a front mount? Do you have a mod list you could paste here?

Because I'm sick of breaking plastic BPV pipes, and my year ej20g has a crappy intake manifold that will fit no other tmic(plus my wife bought me the fmic back when I first bought the engine, pre white car, for my bday).
And yes, i do have a mod list but I really don't like to post it online because it's so awesome and people start getting all jealous and angry and don't treat me nice when I put it up, I learned that lesson the hard way. I also don't think my laptop is powerful enough hold my mod list, nor my 10g cable fast enough to upload it, I could clog the tubes.

I'm going to justify the fmic install with a 16g soon.

 Fair enough.

Does anyone know where I could procure a serious length of 2.5 ID silicone tubing, like 12+" in long?
locally please thanks

I saw a parts delivery fan a week or two ago with a Samco logo on it. Trying to figure out who that might be locally.

Edit: the obvious one works.

A bit longer than you need, but not a budget buster.

Oh, sorry.

ScottyS 2009-03-28 08:40 PM

FMIC? Awesome.

Is your TD-04 the old JDM one with a 90* aluminum intake?

What are you running for an intake setup pre-turbo?

Yes my turbo has the 90* inlet on the turbo Scotty, and I'm still trying to work out an intake setup:~:

I hope it comes w/ a draw tube, otherwise whenever you blow off coolant into the can, the system will suck air back in when it cools back down.

cody 2009-05-12 09:30 AM

Good point. They might expect you to reuse your stock one or source a new one locally. No wonder it's on sale. :P
