Hopefully the weather will be better.

sperry 2003-03-14 06:12 PM

bad news

I can't make it Sunday. Shit hit the fan at work today, and allthough I was neither throwing the shit, nor spinning the fan, I still got splattered on, and I will be at work Saturday and Sunday. :x

Art, if you still want to drop by Saturday evening I should be home around 4 or 5, and we can work on that snorkus and/or the endlinks.

ZER026D 2003-03-14 06:19 PM

Yo Art what did you get some new parts I hope.

imprezton 2003-03-15 11:59 AM

My Owner: Where are you?
Me: At Home.
My Owner: Could you come in?
Me: I'm sorry, I have my kids this weekend.
My Owner: Ty, the shit has hit the fan here.
Me: Sounds like you need Public Area Housekeeping, not me.

Yeah, when you don't have kids, aparently your free time isn't your own. If I was hourly, I wouldn't mind... but I'm salaried, and I already work 45+ hrs a week. And the guys we're in here to help out aren't EVEN FUCKING HERE today.

I might say fuck it and not come in Sunday, in which case I'll be at the meet tomorrow.

Well, I kinda also have the place by the balls. Our Acres slot system is screwed, we owe them money and can't get it repaired. I wrote an Access database to replace Acres until we get it back, and no one else in the building knows Access and our SQL Server apps.

Funny thing is, I'm not even IT, I'm Accounting

Yeah, real IT wouldn't use Access. :P

Ya know, I was anti-access for the longest. But then I figured out that nearly every office machine either already has access, or it can easily be loaded. For small applications, Access is unbeatable, because you don't need to talk the powers that be into purchasing MSSQL or Oracle.

Not to mention that development is so screwy in Access that you have mondo job security once you get them to depend on your app

Yeah, I used it at my last job pretty extensively... but at least I was programming an interface with it and I didn't have to use its front end... god, that's in the running for the WORST SOFTWARE EVER. But the database itself isn't too bad: self contained, readily available, and easy to program for. But it's only usefully on small projects cuz it's slow and not scaleable.

MattR 2003-03-15 01:52 PM

SO??? What have we decided on? Weather looks to be a bit shitty...

Actually, weather.com is reporting "Partly Cloudy 20% chance of rain" tomorrow! That's not too bad.

I say we meet in the Hilton parking lot near the karts. If it's raining, we'll just head over to the movies, otherwise, we're good to go!

I'll be there if I can get out of coming into the office.

ArthurS 2003-03-15 05:01 PM

So its the HILTON PARKING LOT at 11:00 AM.

That sounds good. Where in the parking lot, I assume near the karts right?

sperry 2003-03-15 06:35 PM

Yep, Hilton parking lot near the karts, 11am, rain or shine. If it's too wet, we'll find a movie to see.

If it's too wet, we'll wait till 11:30 or longer before heading to a movie to make sure we've got everyone. You guys can reach my on my cell phone, pm if you don't have my cell number (I think most people have it by now?), since I don't want to post it publicly.

MattR 2003-03-16 02:24 AM

noce, see you guys there at 11...is it okay if my car is not clean?

sperry 2003-03-16 12:53 PM

Muhahah, 1st pre meet post!

That was fun ya'll! Now I'm at work :x

It was good to meet some additional people! Thanks for the hat Debbie!!

After driving those little tiny karts, my WRX felt like a boat... I started turning the wheel and was surprised how far I had to crank it over to turn 90 degrees!

I'll upload the pictures I took tonight, since my card reader is at home. If anyone else with pics wants me to host 'em let me know. Or if you can host them yourself, post some links!

ArthurS 2003-03-16 01:34 PM

I have some pics Ill load in a little bit. And yes, good meet everyone. It was nice to meet everyone again.

Thanks Scott for the help. Removing that makes the car sound so much different. Now I can hardly here my noisy rear-diff.

ArthurS 2003-03-16 02:04 PM

Here are the pics I took and a small MPG video (bad quality) of the lineup/
