Just yankin' your chain. :P

I was the one who gave Rob the name of this place. I had a friend take his 02 wrx there for a clutch and it was done without a problem and worked for 2 years before he ended up selling it. I assumed if they did a wrx, they should be able to handle a jetta. Sorry for the added work that came with it.

What if they advertise cheap clutch replacement so they can then use your car to buy drugs and traffic women. Now there are going to be strange people walking up to your car looking for drugs and sex. I guess that will give you a chance to get a jump on those student loans. I think you owe La Union an apology and me a beer for this wonderful window of opportunity that has been opened for you. |
So, to bump this thread, her clutch is slipping again
I'd like to know what part of a clutch install, if done incorrectly, could potentially cause it to slip. I know it's not her driving, or her absurd amount of power, and I couldn't prove that they installed a used clutch rather than the new one I gave them. So I'm wondering if there is any part of a clutch install that would cause it to slip? |
I think you should take it back in. Its probably been less than 1k miles even.
|
Was it a complete clutch, pressure plate and flywheel, or what?
Did you break/bed it in properly? Did you ask for and get the old parts back? If they got oil/grease on the plate, yes, it could slip and ruin the disc material. |
Is it cable or hydraulic? Could it just be out of adjustment?

Yes I broke it in. I followed your procedure to fix Joel's clutch at the meet a while back. Yes, I got the old parts. Kevin, I don't know if it's cable or hydraulic, and to be honest, I wouldn't even know how to check. And what do you mean by out of adjustment? |
You should call this guy Michael Westen I heard he takes care of problems.

Improper installation, or the new parts not having the same clearances, or the parts being wrong (WRX parts in RS or vice versa comes to mind).

But seriously, what part of the installation, not aligning it correctly? I can't think of how else you could install it wrong... |
I would think if there was a problem with the installation or oil on the disk whatever, it would have made itself known before now.
|
It started acting up again after about 400-500 miles I'd guess, but I just ignored it and hoped it would go away on it's own, or I was hoping it was in her head.
So are you saying that it's out of adjustment like Kevin was saying? Low quality parts? |
