Apparently that is a common failure, especially with the 60Gb. Might get away with cleaning the drive, but not likely. Under Warranty?

I bought a 3 year extended warranty on it.....................3 years ago!

It's odd because last night it worked again. I did some research on the code that came up and what I understand is it is a failing blue-ray diode? It would seem to me that something like that would either work or not work. It is obviously intermittent.

My warranty card is at work. I'm going to call the company and see if they will do anything. Otherwise, Sony will fix it, but they charge $150.

cody 2009-12-29 10:53 AM

You did try cleaining the lazer eye thingy already, right?

I was going to until the actual error code came up. According to Sony it means the blu-ray diode has failed and needs to be replaced.

Lucky me it is still under warranty.

Have you guys checked out Mass Effect 2( http://masseffect.bioware.com/media/video/246) ???

cody 2010-01-13 05:04 PM

I preordered God of War 3 from Amazon. I liked the first two. I'll probably cancel the order after I get the download code for the demo though. I don't like to buy new full priced games, especially when I have other newish games to play.

cody 2010-01-15 03:07 PM

It worked. Got my demo code email today. Lookin' fwd to it. Release date for full game is 3/31 as per the Amazon preorder page.

WRX06TR 2010-01-18 03:18 PM

Have fun! That demo is pretty cool and also one of the most violent games ever

cody 2010-01-18 03:21 PM

You aren't kidding. I kept yelling thoughout the 15 minutes it took to finish the demo, things like "Oh, sick!!!"

I thought the first two were bloody and violent...

doubleurx 2010-01-19 08:55 AM

My PS3 is fixed and on its way back. I had an extended warranty with "Square Trade". Not sure if anyone has used them, but they have been great. They shipped me a box specifically made for the PS3 with molded foam and all shipping paid for. They fixed it in less than 5 days so the total time will be 2 weeks for the fix. They sent me updates through the whole process via e-mail. The plan was pretty cheap also - $75/ 3years.

cody 2010-01-19 09:12 AM

I've heard really good things about Square Trade. I don't purchase extended warranties as a general rule though. I really came close to getting one for my TV, but cheaped out/rolled the dice.

I think someone was telling me about a new GT5 demo, available for download that includes damage. Has anyone played it? I couldn't find it on the Playstation Network, I fear I may have hallucinated that entire conversation.

cody 2010-02-05 11:30 AM

I've had a GT5 Demo for a couple months now. I only played it once...I think it included damage, but don't recall for sure.

Forza 3 I'm assuming? If so how is it? I played the demo and wasn't really a fan of it.. I was wondering if the full game was any better or different..

It's a sim, so it's hard. I will probably get addicted to it if I ever buy a decent wheel, but til then, I'll just stick with Dirt 2 and NFS Shift.

How's shift? haha

And Dirt 2 is my fav racing game. So good. I might have to get GT5 though. IF it ever comes out.

100_Percent_Juice 2010-02-05 10:51 PM

Anyone playing mass effect 2?

Shift surprised me. It's similar to GT4 but of course it's more arcadey. I haven't played it a ton because I've spent more time on Dirt 2, but I plan to play it more, especially if I get a wheel.

i love it, has some flaw but they don't bother me that much. I played shift and hate it. I think it has to do with me playing forza before I played shift.

100_Percent_Juice 2010-02-06 11:52 AM

If you hate shift so much you should sell it to me.

Your current PC catches on fire? Neat.

I don't know if its because I'm jonesing hard for baseball to start up, but MLB10 The Show is an awesome baseball game.

The regular part of the game is pretty fun, where you play as the whole team and whatnot, but they also have this mode called Road To The Show, where you basically start in double-A ball and try to make it to the big leagues. If you pick a position player, it fast forwards through all the stuff where you don't have anything to do and then stops to let you take at-bats or whenever there is a ball hit in your general direction. A lot of the times, it seems to drop you into clutch situations where an out or a hit mean the difference in a game. So far, I've yet to make it out of double-A. But that's probably due to being a left fielder with a ~.180 average.

Also, I think its the first baseball game I've bought since RBI baseball (which I don't think I technically bought with my own money, since I was 8 )

cody 2010-03-22 04:05 PM

I have God of War 3 in hand. I'm pumped!

How does Amazon get away with not charging me tax when they ship from Fernley half the time.

Great, now I have both of the songs from RBI playing simultaneously in my head... the happy "no one on base" music, and the stressful "man in scoring position" jingle.

They don't have a B&M retail store in NV?

Yah, that's what I've been told, but plenty of places that don't have a B&M store still charge tax purely because they're shipping within the state. I work for such a place.

Nick Koan 2010-03-22 04:22 PM

I'm no expert, but I believe it doesn't necessarily depend on where you ship or where you keep offices, it counts on where you charge the money. Without someone here in Nevada actively collecting money, they are good to go. The only state they need to collect taxes for is whichever unlucky state the credit card processor is in.

Microsoft has an office here in Reno, to take advantage of the corporate tax breaks for collecting money here instead of someplace more expensive like California or Washington.

cody 2010-03-22 05:46 PM

That makes sense.

Anyone play MAG yet for PS3? It is pretty insane. Up to 256 players at a time. Pretty amazing. Makes COD seem really slow.

cody 2010-04-08 08:29 AM

Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360) or Need For Speed Shift (PS3) $20

Nick Koan 2010-04-08 08:36 AM

Newegg has The Saboteur on sale for $20 too. Both 360 and PS3. PC owners get boned with a $28 price tag

PS3

360

So, if you've ever wanted to be a Irish racecar driver that beats up Nazi's in occupied France and hides in strip clubs to evade authorities, then this is the game for you.

I dunno... sounds too much like my everyday life. Where's the sense of escape and fantasy?

As seen on NASIOC, the best f'ing flash game ever: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/534416

100_Percent_Juice 2010-04-28 09:48 PM

That was a pretty cool concept. However, I did lose interest fast. I muted the sound even faster.

I finally picked up a wheel.

Logitech Driving Force GT Racing Wheel for PS3 $60 AMIR

Supposedly works for both PS3 and PC.

I'm using the ps2 version of that wheel on my pc currently, albeit with custom made pedals and a gated shifter. It works pretty well on pc IMO.

Sweet.

Here's an interesting review: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpos...8&postcount=39

Sucks about the pedals, but oh well.

Actually, I found the pedals totally adequate for GT3/GT4 on the PS2. They're not awesomely sensitive, and the feedback on them is bleak... but they were very reliable and took hours and hours of abuse. But for iRacing, I want gas/brake/clutch and a shifter... so I'm running my home-brew setup... which is really on its last leg... My pedals are like 15+ years old at this point!

What happens when a guy uploads a video to youtube, downloads it and uploads it again another 999 times?

Loss of fidelity? You betcha.
