I'm sorry, all you n00bs with your BIOS controlled overclocking, Ha I say...

Unless you have desoldered a crystal from a motherboard, or better yet, taken an exacto blade to a trace and then buffed off the glaze to hardwire a "turbo" switch in, just make like a man done with his business at a urinal and Zip it... :liljon:

Talkin' old school, yo. Peace.

MattR 2004-12-03 05:07 PM

You really are old school, yo.

Weird... never had an issue linking an i-club attachment before. Anyways:

Ever use pencil lead on top of a flip chip to increase the multiplier?

Dean, you're not so much "old school" as you are "just old". :P ;)

Overclocking a coputer usually isn't so much a "need" issue. I'm sure you don't "need" that extra 100hp on you 300hp car, right?

haha thats great!!! I do need the +100hp (to compete), but as far as computer speed nope. I work on my puter for hours on end and if I OC it, it would be fatal, nothing like a 60 sec run in Auto-X

Well, the computer rebooted twice while idle (tho never while playing a game!?) at 7% overclocking, so I backed it down to 5%. So far no issues, and the fans aren't even kicking up in rpms, so I'm probably cool to leave it this way. But, even if it's not stable now and I have to knock it back down to regular speeds, it's still plenty fast! 8)

SO I actually installed a new CD/ DVD Burner in my computer tonight...It is so sweet...It burn a disc in like 1 minute, so much faster than the old one I had, which didn't work at all...

I learned myself about master/ slave drives, and plugged the ribbon wire in all by myself...

I am bad at computers.,..but watch out for this guy

tysonK 2004-12-06 10:16 PM

I wish I had things important enough to need to be burned in a minute.

Nick Koan 2004-12-10 05:47 PM

Just got me a new Video card too...

All I can say is

Damn, this GeForce 6800 GT is nice.

Now I just need faster harddrives.

Whoohoo --- major HDD upgrade just went down!!! Got my Samsung 160gb SATAs from Newegg, and a 4-port SATA RAID card from eBay (not 3ware:().

Running:
60gb WD POS for a boot drive
160's in RAID 1 for data
a pair of ATA-133 30gb Maxtors in RAID 0 on a separate controller for scratch 12gb IBM IDE 'cause it didn't have anywhere else to be just then

I'm running the SATA controller in 64/66 PCI mode, so it's fairly quick even in RAID 1. With a fair bit of ECC/REG RAM and a big video card on top of things, I'm glad I got the larger 550w Enermax PSU.

tysonK 2004-12-11 04:23 PM

those cards look dusty clean that up!

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-12-11 05:40 PM

Is that steel-braiding I see around those wires?

I consider the computer case to be the "air filter" for the place. If I removed my canned air from the Subaru's vacuum line and brought it in here to "blow out" the case, I'd get killed by the dusting monitor!

I just need to take it outside once the porch dries out and do the dust-eradication there. 'Course, I'm also worried about lodging some dust particle in a CPU fan......
