Damn, I want a keyboard with all those mathmatical symbols... morover, I'm impressed they are included in whatever the default font is in IE.

Dean 2005-01-28 01:11 PM

I know I will get nothing but grief from this group(Kevin), but I am encouraging Nick to keep it stock, or close to it for his initial forey into performance driving.

I would not be nearly the driver I am if I had not driven my A4 in Stock, and near stock configuration for about 3000 track miles before retiring it, and building my first "track car".

Probably 600-1000 of those miles were bone stock on All-Season tires. Then it got a chip, and wheels/tires, and near the end, front brakes.

Nothing will teach you to drive better than a soft suspension, and crappy tires combined with lots of seat time.

Nick Koan 2005-01-28 01:20 PM

A big part of me agrees, and I'm going to try and keep stuff stock for as long as possible.

AtomicLabMonkey 2005-01-28 01:26 PM

I completely agree with Dean. If a car is brand-spanking new, there's no need to immediately go changing things. Drive the car for a while, get a feel for it, autocross it, etc.. after a while if it's disappointing you in some way, *then* change it.

I drove a LGT. It's disappointing immediately. It needs at least an exhaust, some springs, and a short shift IMHO. It's a really soft car from the factory.

Nick Koan 2005-01-28 01:29 PM

Yes, I can already feel the need for stiffer suspension, but I'm still going to wait a bit and get used to the car.

I still feel like a stranger in it.

Hey Dean, those are just Alt+ chars. The font wouldn't accept a heart symbol, so I had to go with the :x face to simulate the home environment.

Lets find a canyon road, walkie-talkies, and a guy at the end with a stop watch. Preferably dirt or snow.

Didn't Matt go through someones front yard as well, and I also recall a control arm bending Solo trial "Off". I think Matt is mor worthy of that award.

No, I didn;t go into anyone's yard...I broke my rim on a curb in the ice, then my massive off at Solotrials only tweeked my tie rod, no big deal.
