I'm going to be in SM, I have a few things that put me in there that would be too much trouble to take off( Hoodscoop, Blowoff Valve). So that is 9 in SM and counting.

sperry 2006-03-27 10:27 AM

Damn, SM is going to be retarded this season! I thought I'd have a pretty good shot, but there's way too much competition now. Can I run EM? ;)

I only think that when I'm defusing bombs.

Don't be a sissy, you're car "on paper" should clean up. You're my pre-season pick as class winner. Although it will be a very competitive class.

Dude, Dave Deborde's running in Khamis' car. Dave's got more experience than the rest of us combined, and I've seen Mike's dyno chart... it looks like mine, 'cept he's making *more* torque than I am! There's my pick for SM winner.

Then there's you and Mike who I know can drive as well as me, and the rest of the grid that I can't guarentee aren't as fast as me (if that makes sense, read it carefully). So basically, my car on paper might seem like the class winner, but that's just the car on paper. Reality is going to be far more interesting.

It is all very exciting, and you're right, we can specualte all we want, but we won't know until the first event.

NevadaSTi 2006-03-27 03:17 PM

Yeah, something could break. OOPS, I said it. Knock on wood, no a big tree!

MikeK 2006-03-27 03:28 PM

I vote for Jim K and Victor. They have a year's worth of SM experience.

Fixed, more than likely.

ivanko 2006-03-27 03:51 PM

Most likely TESP or TEM depending on where tech puts me. Hope to have the truck sorted out better this year compared to last year and run more than just one event as I did in '05.

Good to see you'll be back this year, I can't wait to see what that Syclone can do!

Well, tech isn't responsible for classing, but we'll help you out as much as we can if you ask. If you can make it to the meet at 6 pm this week I will go over your mods and try to sort it out with you. I would be surprised if you got bumped all the way up to EM though. (no street tire in Modified. :( )

If I remember correctly, the Syclone's got a turbo on it doesn't it? That'll kick you out of ESP. However, I think it's legal in SM... so there's no need to jump all the way to Modified.

Kevin M 2006-03-27 05:57 PM

Didn't know about the replaced turbo, I had thought it was just exhaust/boost controller mainly. SM legality will depend on what exactly was done to the suspension.

ivanko 2006-03-27 09:02 PM

Chrome moly tubular 3 link suspension front and rear with coil overs. No more chuck wagon rear suspension!

Brakes have been upgraded to corvette C5 Z06 calipers and Baer 2 piece rotors. I have a brake bias issue still which hampered me last year. Working out the bugs.

Chassis has been stiffened.

Some problems with the engine stalling. Should figure out soon.

Joeyy 2006-03-27 11:18 PM

Should be in TESP, well I think so anyway.

Yep, Modified. Sucks. :(

What are your mods again? With a stock turbo and brakes, it's unlikely you're out of ESP, but there are little things that can bite you. STi hood scoop, bypass valve, etc.

Quick question for you tech inspection folks. I am going to try to come out this weekend pending my work schedule. I remember somewhere someone discussing coolant overflow reservoirs. Well I don't have one. It was never flagged at past track days. Do you think this will be a problem?

Or is the shenanigans group allowed these sort of shenanigans in their engine compartment. I am also waiting on my tires which will really make my decision for this weekend. I only have snow tires and what little tread I have left on them, I need for the rest of our season up here.

Thanks

You need a 1 quart coolant overflow catch can, at least for trials, I'm not sure what Solo requires, but it's probably similar.

The Perrin FMIC should have come w/ a replacment catchcan that mounts behind the driver's side headlight. Technically, that can's not large enough, but may get you past tech. If you're missing your Perrin can, I've got mine off the car you can borrow for tech/buy off me if you want. It's a pretty quick install.

Since I've relocated my battery, I'm looking into a larger can that will hold some extra coolant w/ a cap like the OEM one to go in the area where my battery was. For now, here's my solution, which is something you could probably rig up as well for next to zero $:

doubleurx 2006-03-28 10:29 AM

I do not have my perrin one. That is pretty classic Scott. I will see what I can find around the garage. Is this something I would need to do before AC school this weekend?
