Jonny, bummer to hear that it was that bad but at the same time it's awesome that your parents are helping you out. They're awesome!

Like JC said, contact either of those guys about the wiring. I've been to GT and talked with Kevin and Keener a few times. They're great guys that have quite a good reputation as I'm sure you already know.

Best of luck with the swap buddy!

JonnydaJibba 2007-11-16 02:45 PM

They said $1000 to do the harness.

Libila 2007-11-16 02:48 PM

How quick of a turn around time?

JonnydaJibba 2007-11-16 02:52 PM

From what I've read on the forums, not.

A wrecking place in Sparks has a stock motor with 70k on it. I guess the chain broke when moving it and the motor dropped and so the lower left cam gear needs to be replaced. $1100 he said. I dunno bout that tho, 70k plus it was dropped... Everything is tentative at this point.

ECS sold me an RS motor with ~61k on it for like $800. Just call up them and GT, they usually have some motors laying around from swaps that they will dump off for cheap.

Not bad, I've been thinking about going that route but also have a swap in the back of my mind as well..

If you are talking about GT the turnaround is about 9 months, I told you about them right Johnny?

JonnydaJibba 2007-11-16 04:37 PM

Yes, that is retarded.

What are they popping out like babies?

Sorry to hear what happened man. I almost had the same problem. I actually got my car in a couple of hours after you. Luckily my engine doesnt have to be replaced.

Dean 2007-11-16 10:17 PM

I'm sorry it is broken.

Plan on a clutch as well while the motor is out. At minimum, resurface the flywheel and a new clutch plate.

JonnydaJibba 2007-11-17 06:11 PM

I got a new clutch not too long ago.

M3n2c3 2007-11-18 04:50 PM

Jonny, that sucks, but I hate you because now you get to swap. :P

JonnydaJibba 2007-11-19 03:26 PM

No luck so far with finding an engine in Reno. I wasn't expecting to anyway.

k-dogg39 2007-11-19 04:10 PM

Don't think it would really help, but I saw this on Ebay as I was browsing today...

GC8.Love 2007-11-19 04:47 PM

G'damn it, what a stupid-ass month.

Hope your car is gettin bettar.

As for anyone who saw me today, off on the side of 80E, I got sideswiped in the RS. Yes. And My face was probably very red from bawling my eyes out.

khail19 2007-11-19 10:35 PM

Damn, apparently it's dangerous to drive around in an RS anymore. Those things are always getting sideswiped. :(

Kevin M 2007-11-19 11:05 PM

Damn, sucks Hil. Does it at least still have all 4 wheels on?

JonnydaJibba 2007-11-20 08:09 AM

Holy moly! What the hell is going on round these parts lately?

NevadaSTi 2007-11-20 08:25 AM

Holy Crap!!! At least the Snow Donkeys aren't out yet!

Kevin M 2007-11-20 08:33 AM

Shh, don't say that out loud!

It would be nice if it stayed at that price. But I don't want a monster.
