With no other mods, you can run in street prepared.

Welcome to TESP!

Kevin M 2008-06-05 01:12 PM

You're in STU which has no wheel width limits. STS is 7.5, STX is 8. For now at least, they're discussing increasing the limits in the near future.

You are still limited to 245 width tires.

Kevin M 2008-06-05 01:12 PM

Oh, and given the choice I'd take ESP over STU any day. :)

cody 2008-06-05 01:14 PM

Come run with us in ESP (assuming you're otherwise SP legal). You can run any width in Street Prepared.

Quick question...Am I going to have to run Street Mod because my wheels are wider (17x8) than my stockers? I thought it would have been Street Touring but that is only limited to widths no wider than 7.5.

You're in Street Unlimited.

 Nice!

WRX06TR 2008-06-05 03:10 PM

...huh...well I won't be comparing times with anybody then. No power mods, no suspension mods, just wider stickier tires, you all better watch out!!!

Just try to drop the gap over the season.

cody 2008-06-05 03:46 PM

You could run Novice.

WRX06TR 2008-06-05 04:43 PM

Nah, I ran novice last year...I want to get out of there...even though Im still a noob.

WRX06TR 2008-06-07 08:00 PM

So, since I have to be at work at 3:15 tomorrow and ESP doesn't run until the afternoon, can I run no points, and run in the morning?

Nick Koan 2008-06-07 08:15 PM

Yes

Libila 2008-06-29 03:44 AM

I'll be at the July 12th event with my stock eL :D

MikeK 2008-06-29 04:32 PM

I vote Cory as the champion of the autocross today. When you finally get some power we are all in trouble.

MPREZIV 2008-06-29 04:48 PM

MAN! When I got the line right through the turn-around, and figured out that I could literally flat foot the car, 3rd gear, ALL the way throught the slalom, that thing was F'ing INCREDIBLE!!! I couldn't believe it!!

Thanks for the kudos Mike!

It may just be the lack of sleep talking, but I don't think it's wise to be putting that much stress and wear on a 15 year old L, with a tired engine. Consider the fact that this car has to get you half way across the country, I would baby it as much as possible. You should co-drive with Jonny, or Pete.

Kevin M 2008-06-29 06:10 PM

As the owner of a 15 year old L, I can tell you I'd sure as hell rather break it at an autocross than at some random interval between point A and point B across country.

Since you've never seen, driven, or worked on this car, I'm going to ignore your comment. I advise you do the same Tim.

What have you done to him? He was perfectly insane when I left...

MPREZIV 2008-06-30 04:05 PM

Beatings... violent beatings.

Kevin M 2008-06-30 05:02 PM

I was just advocting stressing and possibly breaking the car in a place where repairs and parts are very easily and timely obtained rather than during a cross-country trip. And if the car can autocross, it can putt down the freeway.

Or one can simply drive the car down the freeway (like I already did), and conclude that this car can putt down the freeway. Since this car is going to be a daily driver your theory of testing its reliability by beating it on an autocross track is not only not helpful, but irrelevant considering that this car needs to do nothing that's performed on an autocross track to complete its task. Which is getting from point A to point B.

P.S. Advocating.
