Interesting how they fluctuate(Obviously using different server/time of day/users etc..) : http://www.speedtest.net/result/734642503.png |
I called Charter yesterday to clarify some questions about my bill, and they told me that everyone who has signed up for 10mbps internet service have been upgraded to 15mbps. The baseline service plan is now 8mbps (before was 5, and the upgraded internet is 15 instead of 10.)

They have ads on TV now saying they upped the speed for free across the board.

I actually upgraded my internet a few months ago to the 10, because in the little community I live in has some bandwidth problems. When I talked to them yesterday, I added an extended cable plan with two HD boxes for a total of $85 a month. That's not too bad if you ask me. What are you guys paying?
|
I think I already posted here that I'm paying $110 for one HD DVR, HBO and Cinemax, and "10 Mb" internet. After 12 months it goes up to like $160 but I'll just renegotiate (like I always do) or switch. What keeps me with Charter is the fast internet (with no BW caps) and no dish/wires to deal with. I also like the ability to hook up a TV in any room to the cable connection in the wall and it works without a box. I wouldn't mind another DVR for the bedroom though.
I have the older Moxi with only DVI and component out. I guess the newer ones don't let you connect an external USB drive but does anyone know if they have better picture quality? The picture quality sucks on mine for two reasons. HD looks fine until there is a lot of movement...then it pixelates and SD sometimes has a vertical line in the middle of the screen that comes and goes. |
So is Charter going to send me letters when I "download" stuff.
so far SBC hasn't said a peep. I'm thinking about locking in their $29.99 deal for 8mbps 2 year contract. Also does anyone have a cable modem? |

I was told the speeds they offer are actually now 15Mbps (although some other customer service reps may say 5 or 10 as their lowest), 25, and 60Mbps. I'm also getting around 20Mbps with their slowest speed. You should trade in the old Moxi and get their newer Motorola HD DVR (model DCX3400). There is significantly less pixelation when displaying fast moving pictures. Plus it has HDMI out. http://www.speedtest.net/result/735171848.png |

Anyone heard anything about the "Scientific Atlanta" HD DVR that Charter has? I called them this weekend to ask about alternative DVR's and she said that the main office (By IGT) may or may not have them available. You have to go there to find out and going down there with my existing DVR to find out they don't have what I want is not sounding great. |

 About 6 yrs ago, I got one of them letters from Charter regarding the Downloading of a Tyler Perry Movie. |

Charter bumped everyone's speeds again. There's a thread on slickdeals.net about it. Just power cycle your modem if you aren't seeing it yet.

Damn, we're not seeing those numbers on Charter..I'll try later tonight and see.
|
I'm still at 16 down/2.5 up, but didn't cycle my modem.

you guys are lucky! U-verse sucks!

I just cycled my modem and got the same old result
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1643318217.png Damn Emo, Uverse is weak. I almost get that speed on my AT&T SGSII http://www.speedtest.net/android/112606445.png |

Regarding your 3G speed, you're lucky. I only get 150-400Kbps with Sprint on their version of the SGSII. |

I think I need a new modem. Mine's a 5 year old rental.

Maybe. I just got my DVR and modem upgraded when my DVR died recently. Now I've got one of those fancy Motorola Surfboard modems or whatever they're called. Also the tech said Stead has some of the fastest internet in town for some reason.
