rallytheshytoutofwrx 2006-03-13 08:07 PM

yeah, no wall touchy. the closest i lapped toit again was actually well above 1.00....just below 1.01. its all about the first corner for me..

rallytheshytoutofwrx 2006-03-13 09:19 PM

so can we make a new challenge?

if so, i propose the BMW ///M3 on the Nurburgring. :D

I know, how about we finish this one and the winner gets to pick the next... you know, the way we did it for the last 8 weeks. :P

rallytheshytoutofwrx 2006-03-14 11:27 AM

good call. im still a n00b at this thread and all. bemani said he was done and i think i have some forms of ADD or ADHD or something.

cody 2006-03-14 11:29 AM

Marty, you HAVE read the first post right? Just making sure.

rallytheshytoutofwrx 2006-03-14 02:53 PM

oh, the keywords were "best time for the week." missed that one. i kinda skimmed the first post before...
sorry guys

cody 2006-03-14 02:54 PM

Well there's that, and the fact that every challenge has an end date clearly posted in bold. ;)

rallytheshytoutofwrx 2006-03-14 04:24 PM

damn i suck at this!

cody 2006-03-14 04:25 PM

What you lack in observational skills, you make up for with a kick ass time for this challenge. ;)

rallytheshytoutofwrx 2006-03-14 04:44 PM

yeah, and it took me enough tries....

the only course i ever drive a lot is the 'Ring, i think its the most worthwhile. my fastest record for that is in the Sauber C9 mercedes, a 5:18 or 5:23 i cant remember...which was insane-- sweaty palms and crazy concentration. i could do a few sections faster in the nissan or f1 car, but consistency is a HUGE issue on that course and i couldnt get the others tuned right.

Well, I still haven't been able to beat my time from the weekend, and since I didn't take a screen shot then, here's the shot of the time from the saved replay. At some point I'll throw up the in-car video.

I don't know where Rallythewrx was able to shave off that extra second... since you admittedly didn't read the rules on the 1st page, make sure that lap time is from arcade mode, Seoul reverse, C5 Z06. :P

sperry 2006-03-14 11:54 PM

Okay, in-car video is here... granted it's not a perfect lap, but since I was never able to catch up to this ghost lap, I must have done something right. Someone fill me in on the missing second!

i dont know man... i havent seen the video but i assume you took the extreme routes on corner 1 and and the last corner? and yes its on arcade mode..

What's an "extreme route"? I drove the hairpin the "ideal" line for a tight turn between two long straights: early apex in, late apex out, thereby extending the effective lengths of the straights. I attempted to run an early apex in turn 1 as well, but because that vette is so pushy (gotta love the realism in GT4) I ended up having to drive T1 "improperly" by staying left and following the scrub marks through the turn to keep momentium up. I'm sure I could have shaved off time from my best lap eventually simply by running tighter apexes, hitting the line better and feathering the throttle less... but I don't think I'd pick up more than 2 or 3 tenths, let alone the full second I need to knock off to get into the 59's.

So anyway... we're about 11 hours overdue on the next challenge! What's it gonna be? A word of advice, normally we try to pick challenges that are between 1 and 2 minutes per lap. If you really intend on running the Nurburgring (I love it, I won't complain) make sure you pick a fast car that's very easy to drive, or you're going to frustrate all the people that don't know the course because they'll constantly be going off and invalidating their laps. Also keep in mind not everyone has all the cars, so pick something that's common or easy to get.

rallytheshytoutofwrx 2006-03-15 11:12 AM

well you know when you get a fast lap section in your ghost and even though youre faster than that ghost most every section but the ghost has an exceptional ONE section that always makes him win? maybe its liek that..if i explained that all clearly..

okay no nurburgring, we can do somethign else.
how about m3 on midfield? pretty straightforward i guess, arcade mode, full power, no shortcuts..
