Go drive 1 of your 3 snow blowers around and leave us alone to our shoveling misery. :)

How is it up there? It looked terrible on the news earlier.

And then my wife turns to me and says, "I think I'm having mild regular contractions".

Oh no. Not now.

Are you serious?

ScottyS 2008-01-04 10:14 PM

As serious as the book titled "Emergency Childbirth: A Manual" that is sitting on my lap right now.

She's not due for another 10 days, but you never know......

A couple minutes ago, going south on South Virginia passed South Meadows and to Damonte, all lights were out. No traffic lights, street lights, no Winco, Mercedes dealership, and that whole shopping center with Wal-mart, etc. Couldn't see anything and briefly got lost.

I was extremely tempted to go down to the baseball field parking lot down the street and do some mad tyte JDM drifting and some Subynuts but I'm far to lazy. Plus Emily has her Wii up here :D

Wow craziness.

If there is anything you think I could do to help, just ask.

ScottyS 2008-01-04 11:31 PM

Copy that, Nick. Most likely just premature stuff. They've gotten less consistent over the last hour, so I think we're OK. We are planning on a home birth again anyhow, but I'd really like it if the donkeys don't take out the experts on their way here, heh.

Here's to being on time or late!

sperry 2008-01-04 11:43 PM

Damn Scotty! Good luck with all that!

As far as my place, we got just shy of a foot... maybe 10 inched. I went out at about 8:30pm and shoveled and cleared off the SVX and truck. Since then the snow seems to have lightened... but the wind is picking back up. Hopefully I picked the right time to pre-clear and I won't have a big mess in the morning.

Also, the plows are already out and about all over the neighborhood tonight. Much better than the last time there was a big snow storm.

Nick Koan 2008-01-05 12:01 AM

Yeah, I just got back in from shoveling the driveway (well, my side since my roommate just parked on the other side). The snow is actually not too bad to shovel right now. Its still light and fluffy.

One thing I noticed though, was that the driveway is infinitely more slick now. I had to walk up the lawn in the snow to get any traction.

well i got my 1 blessing of the year.... hit a snowbank coming round a corner.... back end went out, tried to save it and hit the snow bank head on.... thank god it was all powder, not a scratch

cody 2008-01-05 12:36 AM

Good luck everyone. I can't believe how much snow we got between 5 and 10 tonight. It looks like almost 18 inches here in Stead.

van 2008-01-05 08:14 AM

Good Morning fellow shovelers!:D Another cup o' coffee and I'm going with my son and his broom in tow.
So , was there a new baby born last night? My sister did the home birth thing in a watertub 2x.

Yes it is an impressive storm. The winds were actually more amazing than the snow. We got a little more than 3 feet with some drifts on our street at 6 feet. I just checked the weather and we're supposed to get another 2-4 feet by Sunday night.

Thank god for the type-R snow blower! I just need to get a new intake and some 110 race fuel.

Scotty S: I wish you and your wife the best and hope your roads get cleared quickly.

The thought of a home birth scares the crap out of me. I know that after being there for my first child that I could never "plan" on having my second at home. *shudders* And my wife is due July 1st so there is no chance of snow keeping me from the hospital.

it looks like we only got a few inches that stuck, out here. . . I have enough to take my wife out to the back roads and teach her how to drive the Forester in snow, but that's about it.

Some donkeys attacked MikeK's house this morning.

Well, all OK for now, things are calmed down and we are back to waiting. The contractions went away after an hour or so.

We got a solid foot, maybe more, in west Carson. Our rancher neighbor cleared the driveway with his ATV, and the cars are all dug out. Fortunately, I had a bunch of wood already chopped and sitting dry in the garage....mmmm wood fire and hot chocolate.

1.5 hour shovel session, as a bonus I have a video of the stuck Armada in the distance!

cody 2008-01-05 12:36 PM

Took me 2 hours but I'm out of shape and I spent most of the time shooting the shit with my neighbors. Can't wait to do it all over again tomorrow!

Nick Koan 2008-01-05 01:01 PM

Thanks to Captain Deano I now have confidence in the snow again. Thanks!

We need pictures of the aformentioned corners so we can determine Donkey location.

Glad everyone/thing is OK though.
