Saw an old guy on a "Hover Round", or whatever those motorized chairs that fat old people use, screaming down 2nd in the slow lane. ...made me chuckle.

On Monday during the big storm, I saw a guy pushing a unicycle down Veterans Parkway. It kinda freaked me out.

From sunday:

Oh yeah, got 7-8" today, still going.

Tried to drive from Truckee to Tahoe City on the 06 road today, it started pounding hard. The turn for Tahoe City hadnt been catted so went out Watson Lake road to Brockway (above Northstar) and found a closed gate after getting stuck in some gnar that didnt end like we thought it was going to.

45 min stuck and digging

Clyde dog didnt feel like pulling us out.

Then we got out, got turned around and went back down the gnar we somehow made it up.

Behold:

Nice crop circles. That road is sweet.

Yeah, definitely missed being the last car on that road by a few minutes, the Sequoia that was in there wouldn't leave so we could be last. Funny, drove all the way to the gate at brockway summit where the snowmobiles run....once we got unstuck from that foot trail we were on.
Must have passed thru ten groups of people out there getting their xmas trees. They were all dicks, youd think theyd be happier, theyre getting thier trees and I had the decency to slow way down for them and creep thru at 1mph. Still there were some who felt it necessary to talk shit, so we asked if theyd like their assess beaten in front of their families, all declined. Enjoy your free illegal xmas tree, go strap it to your prius and learn how to have fun for a change. Hell we almost died and were stuck for an hour and we were having a blast.

Dear guy in rented Avenger on South Meadows,

There is ice on the ground, you need to give yourself at least 2 - 3x the braking distance you think you need.

Signed, the occupants of the two cars in front of you.

sperry 2009-12-09 09:14 AM

Dear pussyfoots on Rio Wrangler,

Just because you're scared of the ice doesn't mean you should drive down the middle of the road at 5 mph. Some of us are capable of an easy 30-40 mph, pick one lane so we can pass and actually get where we're going before the next snow storm hits.

Signed, people with AWD, snow tires, and low a CG.

tysonK 2009-12-09 10:18 AM

Dear person walking in the street b/c the sidewalk isn't plowed and is almost getting hit every 30 seconds,

I feel sorry for you.

Sitting at a red light this morning I almost got smeared by Mr. "Big 4x4". I guess he didn't figure on that dry-road-to-packed-down-snow-that-you-could-see-a-mile-away being a factor in stopping.
By the time he did stop, his passenger door was lined up and within a clear coat's thickness to my trunk. I opened my door and leaned out to see him rolling down his passenger window and with a big smile he says "Nice save, Huh??" I just nodded and gave a sarcastic thumb's up.
After the light turns green, he decides that driving one foot behind me for a few blocks would be a safe idea, then waves to me like the good savior that he is when he turns off onto a different road.
I wish I could have caught his name so that I could add him to my X-Mas card list.

Do you mail out live grenades for your xmas cards? 'Cause that sounds like an appropriate thank you for his driving.

I think we need bumper stickers...

Physics, It's the law!
Break it and break your car/body and maybe other's.
or
p=m*v
If you don't know what that means, back the F off!

100_Percent_Juice 2009-12-09 03:21 PM

I think inviting someone to read the back of your car is the quickest way to get them to smash into it.

True, but that wasn't really my point.

That reminds me of the gravel trucks that have the sign "not responsible for broken windshields, keep back 300 feet". Of course you can't read it unless your 50 feet away.

I think I will get one that says "not responsible for driving your dumbass off the road".

sperry 2009-12-10 10:14 AM

Dear driver of the early '90s Accord,

When transitioning from dry pavement to an icy turn lane, you might want to slow down below 40 before attempting to brake on the ice. Hopefully that tank-slapper into the curb didn't totally destroy your left rear suspension... but based on the way your car limped back across the street... it probably did.

Signed, thanks for not T-boning me.

To 99.99% of you Reno drivers - pay more taxes and get city wide heated streets. You folks can't drive in the snow.

TrueNative 2009-12-11 09:01 AM

99.99% of the car's that I have seen "doing it all wrong" had white licence plates that say California on them. :P
