This is troof.

Reno's problem is that it only snows bad on the valley floor like once every 3 years. Not often enough for the city to justify buying 100's of plows and employing a bunch of pros. Instead we've got like 1/4 the number of plows we need, and a bunch of part timers running them. So it takes *forever* before the streets are cleaned up, and they don't get nearly as well plowed because they're not plowing off fresh snow, they're having to try to scrape up 6" of packed ice from 3 days of traffic driving over the snow.

My street hasn't been plowed yet, and with the next storm already coming, I get the feeling it won't be plowed for yet another week. The garbage trucks will have gone by twice before I see a snow plow on my street... which makes me wonder, why the hell don't the garbage trucks have snow plows on them?

Really? Not the case up here.

I guess we get more of the Cal. people that have never seen snow in their life than Truckee does...like the 4x4 Tacoma I saw earlier, with one chain on the rear passenger side tire, going 5mph. he must have been from San Diego. Truckee residents should get different plates.

I am in the same situation, possibly with a bit more snow being higher. Where my driveway hits the street is the cleanest part of the road for the entire block.

I like the idea of putting plows on the garbage trucks, but it will never happen.

I love the people who plow our streets. The best part is when they decide "I am going to plow this 3 lane street for 100 feet and then turn it into a 2 lane street." There is a massive example of this on South Meadows right in front of Sierra Gold. I almost died.

I think they do that in NY.

Yes they should - Nevada ones! When are we getting annexed anyway?

It is dumping out right now. Looks like a few more feet tonight and tomorrow.

Those drivers can't even get within 2 miles of my house I guess, I've seen hardly any.

Are we still doing these?

Dear Outback driver,

You have one of the best AWD systems sold on a passenger car. You don't need chains on the front tires. Especially when it's dry out. Especially when you're holding up a line of cars.

Signed on behalf of the 6 people behind you.

Also, when will people understand that DRLs don't help anyone see you from behind. Turn your damn headlights on in the fog you idiots! I swear, I saw maybe 6 cars with their lights on in the fog this morning, and 106 without.

Dear people in big, giant, lifted turbo-diesel pickup trucks:

AAAAAAAHHH HA HAA HAAA HAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUCKERS!

Your lack of subtlety. I like it.

Same here. Everyone is finally getting used to the snow, it'd probably take another week of fog for them to realize they should have their lights on in it. :|

I could have gotten that at LEAST a foot higher.

I would have parked behind them if that were the case.

I had my Front and rear Fog lights on in the A4. I like the single brighter rear taillight the European cars have. Visibility is better because it is bright, but you don't confuse it with brake lights.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-12-14 06:50 PM

Honestly, it's hard not to do that when you have a lifted truck. You drive around flat roads all the time and then find that someone has placed a snow hill in your parking space to partake of. It would look weird if he didn't do that.

Through rain, sleet or snow my ass, this is the second time in 2 weeks I haven't had mail service. My mortgage payment and netflix blueray discs have been sitting in my box with the flag up all day and my windows 7 disc went on the truck for delivery this morning.

I got a rear tire 6" off the ground by driving the front end far enough up a plow pile at TMCC last week. :D

van 2009-12-22 07:28 PM

Damn ice donkeys! I passed a mustang, an old truck and a camry... all spinning their tires in vain stuck on the one lane uphill road by my house. RE01-Rs' FTW

cody 2009-12-22 08:46 PM

Yah, the surface streets were crazy slippery tonight. That snow fell at the worst possible time for us comuters.

WRX06TR 2009-12-22 10:23 PM

Finally got me. I lost the tail in a downhill turn and couldn't save it before it I plowed through a snowbank and put a nice crack in my front bumper and lost half my undertray...I wasn't even messing around or driving fast but I definitely ran out of ice driving skill.. :(

Jeikun 2009-12-22 11:00 PM

Bummer man! It's definitely a mess out there tonight.

We had another 3 car accident over on university terrace (9th street) and sierra intersection.
