Matt you play/ed hockey?

Hockey used to be my life. Then I stopped playing as much, started working, got a fast car, and now I don;t play much at all. Once the rink closed, it all went to hell.

Nice...

Thanks...

Fort Hunt High School class of... '84. Hell, that place has been closed down for 20 years. Well, converted to a middle school.

Virginia Tech ME class of '88 too. :(

JonnydaJibba 2007-04-17 02:53 PM

I still try to play as much as possible. Luckily the leagues are always hurting for goalies so I get to play a lot.

Sorry for offtopixing the thread! Here, I think I will actually get the wings this time.

knucklesplitter 2007-04-17 03:23 PM

I played hockey for a couple years in HS. Pretty good skater but I rarely touch a puck anywore.

Wings? This thread's about wings?

Any bets on the reservation tonight?

bxracer69 2007-04-19 04:18 PM

i think we'll b ok

Dean 2007-04-19 08:23 PM

OK, I'm not impressed. Prices are no better than Bully's and we are eating out of paper baskets.

And no simple way to plug in WRC footage.

Feel free to find a better location.

No thanks. The food is too expensive, tastes tired, and the place to too far away.

The wings place is making an effort to keep our business, and unless everyone wants to go back to Bully's I think we stick it out there until we find somewhere else that's better.

$10.50 for 4 fingers fries and a drink is cheaper? What magic AWAKE food is there? This is bar food, and Bully's has a much larger menu.

Closer to you maybe.

I am just voting to go back to Bully's.

I'ma talk to them next time I go, (likely this weekend) and see what they say about me bringing 25 of my friends in on the occasional Thrusday. It's been said by a few that they'd prob. get tired of the menu there as well, as it's no more diverse than BWW, but it'd be a good place to go from time to time at least, IMO.

Did $10 fill you up? 'Cause it costs me $20 at Bully's for a burger, drink, and salad.

The food at BWW isn't "better" than Bully's, in fact I'm not all that impressed... but I've only eaten at BWW three times ever, compared to the HUNDREDS of times I've eaten at Bully's.

I fully expect people to tire of BWW quickly. Same deal over at Joe Bob's. But I'm not interested in going back to Bully's. We've been over there way too long. And yes, this place is closer "for me", but also for the Carson folks, and the bunch of people that live on the south end of town. After two years of trekking up to Robb, I don't think it's too much to ask to try to find a place in the south for a while.

So, instead of arguing about what's better between two places that aren't good enough, how about trying to find somewhere else? What about Tamarak? They've got a back room, but it would probably cost us money to rent. But they also host a lot of meetings, so they probably have their shit together as far as handling a group. The sports bar there has TV's and pretty good bar food (their pizza rocks), but I think you can also order off the restaurant's menu IIRC. Is anyone interested in finding out if they'd be willing to host us in the sports bar area Thursday nights?

Kevin M 2007-04-20 09:29 AM

I'd be interested in Tamarack.

JonnydaJibba 2007-04-20 10:17 AM

The only thing that draws me back to Bully's is the bacon.

MPREZIV 2007-04-20 11:10 AM

I'm down to try anyplace that is a reasonable suggestion. I don't have many myself, simply because I don't frequent the "sports bar" scene, that would be a good place for our meet.

Nick Koan 2007-04-20 09:02 PM

I remember suggesting the Tamrack, but I think we were worried about issues with the minors in the group. We should check to see if it'd be an issue or not.
