This Rocks! They are going to qualify the Nationwide series cars on a road course in the rain at Montreal!!!

http://www.circuitgillesvilleneuve.ca/en/

On now!!!

They ran in the ran last year. Great race. Supposed to be clear tomorrow... :(

MattR 2009-08-29 10:33 PM

Ambrose is unreal!. And he lucked out by not practicing and going out to qualy early...he should have a great race Tomorrow.

Dean 2009-08-30 05:07 PM

Good race, great finish.

Bunch of stupid people doing stuff you wouldn't do in the dry in the wet made the last 20 laps annoying, but glad they put on the wets and ran in the "rain". The fans sure loved it.

MattR 2009-08-30 05:40 PM

I'm gutted, I can't believe the finish...anyway, Nascar needs to learn when NOT to throw a caution, 99% of those incidents were self-correcting.

True, but going 4 wide into a 1 wide corner with 2 in the wet grass and becoming a bowling ball into the pack is not NASCAR's fault.

Should have pulled the driver's out for a 1 minute driver's meeting when they changed to wets and told them they spin, they get black flagged, they punt someone, they sit for a lap, they do anything really stupid, they get parked.

There was no excuse for some of that crap.

F1 wouldn't put up with it. :)

I really like that course for some reason. No SPA, but many challenges, high and low speed. Is that where F1 ran in Canada?

MattR 2009-08-30 06:26 PM

Yep, that's where F1 ran and Will Run again in 2010...Scott, Nick, David and I sat right in turn 2, which would have been great seats today.

Dean 2009-09-20 04:33 PM

OK, the chase has started, and I'm watching the first race on the DVR right now...

Who do you want to win???

I am torn between Mark Martin and JPM... I want them both to win for completely different reasons.

Dean 2009-11-08 09:07 AM

Very interesting Poll answer on Speed today. When asked about what they wanted to change about the chase between:

Add a restrictor plate race
Add a Short Track race
Add a road course
Leave it alone

59% of the "fans" said to add a road course! There is some hope for Nascar fans after all.

I was thinking that restrictor plate races are getting boring and dangerous, so they should start using the internal road courses at those speedways.

Welcome to the 2010 Dean talks to himself NASCAR thread with guest appearances by Matt. :)

Is this Mark Martin's year, will JPM check his ego and just drive and win like we know he can or is Jimmy unstoppable?

They are getting rid of the wing and going back to the spoiler mid-season? WTF? Next we will be going back to carborated pushrod V-8s. ;)

If the shootout and practices are any indicator, the duels and race should be "fun".

What did you think of Danica in the ARCA race? I was impressed how she came back after the off-road excursion. Even DW was.

Mark Martin's year was 1998. I can't believe he's still threatening a championship win 12 years and two retirements later.

Have you seen the man recently? They did a bit on him last year and walked through his training regime and such. The guy is in amazing shape, the best of his life he says. Add to that his experience and his team, he has a great chance IMHO. He only has to improve a bit from last year.

You mean the Daytona 500? It's not that big of a race.

A1337STI 2010-02-11 03:22 PM

Ya that's it, and...*damn must be a trick to admit i know something about nascar*

I'll fall for it... its their biggest deal , their super bowl

http://nascar.about.com/od/nascarcul...ggestraces.htm
1. Daytona 500
It has been called "The Great American Race" and "The Super Bowl of NASCAR." No matter what you call it there is no doubt that the Daytona 500 is the biggest, most-prestigous event on the NASCAR Sprint Cup calendar.

Not that i care that much... i just catching you being wrong  (just how you introduced yourself to me many years ago .. just sticks with me)

MattR 2010-02-11 03:22 PM

My super bowl is this sunday...I'm pumped...Love me some Nascar.

They've met. It wasn't memorable for either of them.

Just for the rest of us.

Danica will be starting a Nationwide car in an hour or so. (ESPN2) Truck Series at 3:30PM Pacific and the Daytona 500 tomorrow... Boogity Boogity Boogity!

Dean 2010-02-14 01:56 PM

Anybody catch the Toyota design your own paint scheme "Sponsafier" contest commercials? Some of them were pretty funny. The one with the kyle bush in the pink driving suit and little girl's car with cats and baby seal on it is hilarious. The 7th level warlock is pretty good too.

Welcome to my world... 5.5 hours of recorded race and I missed the end by an hour.

It wouldn't be so bad if Fox would friggen call the pre-race show its own program so I don't have to record 2 hours of Tim McGraw and 200 versions of the same interview before the race starts.

So, what happened after the caution for A.J.'s spin?
