PS3 has a browser not the 360. As far as a way to test speed? I think there is a connection wizard but that's about it. I don't really know what that will tell you.

I just opened up the connection tester and it goes down the list like this.
Network Adapter
Wireless Network
IP Address
DNS
MTU
ICMP
xboxlive
NAT

Perhaps it's the router? Sometimes I'll just like lose my connection, then a couple minutes later it will return. The behavior is so inconsistent.

If you're having wireless and wired issues, update the router firmware to the latest version and reconfigure from scratch (don't restore a backup of the config). If it's only the X-Box, I'd start with the above, but it could also be the cable.

Some routers suck ass with the number of simultaneous connections. I had a 2wire DSL modem / wireless router combo dealie from SBC a few years back and it blew-- everytime I tried to play WoW over my wireless PCI NIC the DSL connection would die because the modem would fritz out and drop the sync.

I've been very happy with my Siemens SpeedStream 5100b and D-Link GameFuel DGL-4300 combo.

It happens with the Xbox sometimes, but mostly my computer. I haven't played online a whole lot recently. So I don't think it's the cable. I'll update the firmware. Fucking technology.

just get a new router. If the problem persists just return the router.

This one is less than 6 months old. It's a linksys wireless g or whatever. I got it because a bunch of people I know use them and like them. I've used em at my friends before. They never have the issues we are experiencing. I don't have the money for another one.

Dude, I PMed you... if you want me to come and look at your network, let me know.

JonnydaJibba 2008-10-27 01:39 PM

Oh you did, haha. I'll talk to my housemates and see when is good and get back to you. I live literally right next to Wild Creek Golf Course.
