Laguna Seca Trackmaster's event Sept 10 & 11

No cost posted yet. Not even sure I can go, but I thought some of you may be.

sperry 2005-08-04 03:26 PM

I saw that. I wasn't going to post anything though because I didn't want all you a-holes getting in before me! :P I swear, everytime I try to register for a Seca event, I get boned out of it somehow!

Dean 2005-08-04 03:49 PM

I don't even see it on their web page...

In the email they sent to TMR members, they mention that pricing isn't set, and that they'll have the registration info up early next week.

MattR 2005-08-04 05:55 PM

That is the same weekend that I go to the Ventura german auto fest. Painful as it may sound, it is actually a really cool event. But now my business parnter is waffeling because his car has transmission issues, so who knows?

Im going just because of the weather in Dec might be crappy I got the email but the registration isnt open yet :~:

qksubi 2005-08-11 07:35 AM

I just looked at it and it is 550 for the weekend ouch  looks like im going back on the credit card hell ride again

qksubi 2005-08-11 07:40 AM

Do you guys think my is over 90db :?: and how can I get that checked?

AtomicLabMonkey 2005-08-11 08:01 AM

You will not be able to accurately reproduce the reading that the trackside decibel meter at Seca will take, because sound is very directional and dependent on many environmental variables.

The best you can do is procure a decibel meter and compare the readings from your car to a known-good car at that track.

MikeK 2005-08-11 08:17 AM

I find it unbelievable that the limit on track is 90, when the limit on the street is 95.

BTW Eric, your car is way over 90 dB, but whether it will be OK will depend on how far away from the car the dB meter is. You might have to push the clutch in and coast past the spot each time. Pretty awesome for $550!

doubleurx 2005-08-11 08:47 AM

Keep in mind the shack that measures it between turns 5 & 6 (uphill) is about 80 feet from the side of the track. Granted my car is quieter, but I had no problem at WOT. Dean however, got pulled and I think his silencer was in (Dean?)

They will test it for you and then you will know if you need to lift after turn 5.

Yep, even with the silencer in, I was over. had to short shift to 4th. What I need is 90 degree elbow that pushes the sound to the driver's side. The alternative is to get some glass packing and put it in front of the silencer before I put it in.

The Stealth would be over, but it hits a very quiet resonance right in that portion of the RPM band in third.

Well.. I signed up for the event at Seca.. let's just hope that I don't get boned by work, or break the car before then!

...now, who's coming with me!?

qksubi 2005-08-11 09:15 PM

Im in scott

Do you have the car back? If so, how's it runnin'

I really want to go; I just don't think I can pull this one off. As it stands I'm probably not going to that Porsche event anyways.

qksubi 2005-08-12 08:34 AM

Im going to this one instead of Dec 1 event because of the weather ;)

So I have attempted to register, but haven't received the reply email with confirmation and payment instructions. How long did it take for you guys?

I got my notification on Saturday:

Greeting Drivers,

This message is to confirm that we have received your registration for Laguna Seca on Sept 10th and/or 11th, and will be sending you additional 'slot' confirmations and associated payment information this weekend.

We opened registration for this event yesterday morning and immediately received over 70 registrations! Many were 2-day entries. Just so you know, we had to set aside a specific number of car and bike slots for Mazda for this event. The good news is that Mazda must assign their drivers to these slots by August 26th. On August 27th, we will offer any open slots to drivers on the event waitlist.

Because you were in the 1st wave of registrations, you'll most likely NOT be affected by the Mazda allocation, and will be confirmed to attend this event. However, we did receive a significant number of Novice registrations, and may not be able to get all Novices into the event at this time. We're also limiting the number of instructors at the event to preserve track space, so that in turn will restrict the number of Novices allowed. We'll keep the Novices informed as we continue with the registration process.

Again, you will receive another message confirming your position at the event, and your payment instructions this weekend. Once you receive this, you'll have to make a payment by August 24th or you will lose your slot.
Payment methods will be via Paypal or Check.

Best regards,

This message is to confirm that you HAVE made the initial 'cut list' for the Sat/Sun Laguna Seca event on Sept. 10/11.

We received about 100 registrations for this event within 3 days of opening, and have had to review each request and assess where we are with the event. As I mentioned in an earlier message, we need to hold about 25 slots at this event for Mazda employees until August 26th. After the 26th, we can offer any available spaces to waitlisted drivers. This DOES NOT affect you because each of you registered early enough to make it into the event.

Now that you're in, you need to make a payment to secure your spot at the event. All payment options & fees are listed below along with the number of days we have you registered for. Please let us know ASAP if your run group or the number of days registered is NOT correct.

Once your payment has been received, we'll send another message indicating that your 'paid-up' for the event. Keep in mind that all payments must be made by August 24th or you may lose your slot to a waitlisted driver.

Thanks for your time, and we'll see many of you in the paddock very soon!

Unfortuantely I don't see any names I recognize on that list of Low Intermediate's besides my own.

Also... something tells me, I'm going to be stuck in traffic all day long, since B2 is going to be running w/ the Novices. But I guess I'd rather be there in novice traffic than at home. Maybe they'll be able to bump me up to B1.

Yup. 1996 M Edition, montego blue, factory hardtop and brand new glass window softtop, ABS, limited slip. Pics this weekend, when I get it up here.

I registered Low Intermediate... but I doubt I'll make the cut. I've never run a TrackMaster's event, and had to withdraw from the only one I tried to register for earlier in the year. Looks like I'll make Thunder Hill later in the month then. Damn, I was excited about going to Seca. :(

If I do get in, I'll be a slow ass most of the day too, until I get more used to the "new" car. But I'm sure by the end of the day I'll be cursing Minis again.

Yikes that filled quickly! I guess I definately will not be attending unless something changes. It will be fun regardless of which group you run in Scott. That track is just a friggin blast. Very jealous!

Congrats on the new car Kevin. Can't wait to see it.

I recognize your name though!
Doug put me in low intermediate too; he told me he could move me up to high intermediate if they still have space there on the 26th.
