Reno SCCA AutoX Events #1- #2 (April 8-9)

Well, the course is set...You all will not be disappointed!!! Should be an absolute blast to drive. As you may or may not know, Sperry and I are the event chairs for this weekend, which means we have a lot of responsibilty. I want to thank the crew that helped us set the course this morning, Eric, Tyson, Mike, Dean, you guys rock.

Also, just a reminder, we could use some help setting up and taking down all weekend, so if possible it would be great to have a few SECCS members show up early and help us with the course Saturday and Sunday Morning. We will be getting going around 7 tomorrow, to make sure all is in order.

Thanks in advance everyone...

Oh, and we can revert to this thread for discussion on this weekend's event...

Go!!

Oh, and the course hasa been swept by a street-sweeper thing, so the tarmac is very clean and in good condition, so traction should be a bit better this weekend.

I give the track about 10 runs before the gravel shows up. :(

Yeah, at least it's starting out clean...I have a feeling AWD will be a big advantage this season, as the surface continues to deteriorate

I'll be early to help Sat & Sun with setup and pickup on Sat. What time do you esstimate the first run group will be done on Sunday, I have to get back up the hill for early afternoon. Konan posted a schedule for run groups on Sat & Sun from a wallet schedule is it correct? I can also bring all by snow shovels or snow blower if you need

Enjoy, everyone, can't wait to hear how it goes. I'll pray for some sun, no snow!

(Sorry to say I will have to miss this weekend, wasn't able to find someone to stay home for me.:( )

As far as weather, tomorrow should be blustery with a few showers here and there, but pretty dry for the most part. Sunday looks to be a little wetter. :(

See you all out there! I can't wait to see the new course. I think Scott said Matt designed it right?

Yup, here are the maps... though there are some changes we made when we set it up, so don't take it as gospel.

I'd like a more realistic representation of the track, those pictures simply won't do.

This was the track I had the most fun with last year. Matt also gave my first ride in an STi and made me fall in love with autocross. <3

NevadaSTi 2006-04-07 09:37 PM

I was gonna say, those look familiar!!

A1337STI 2006-04-07 09:39 PM

Thanks a Bunch Matt and Dean and all who are designing the course !

I'll be driving down in what looks to be snow and i put my summer tires just a few hours ago with Ansel. he will also be driving down on summer tires. we are gonna leave here at about 6:50 ish , but we may not get there until 8:30 depending on road conditions. I can certinaly help with post track clean up though.

Thanks for posting the course or what May be the course. if there is lots of snow i dought i'll have time for a walk through.
and Uhm, the red one turns back over onto it self. (which looks scary at first if you think about when the 2nd car will be going) but i'm sure there's a safe way to deal with that .

oh and ** Snacks ** i just went out and bought some soda, apples and grapes, and shoveled some snow into my cooler. its blue and white. anyone in seccs feel free to grab what ever out of there if you are hungry / thirsty.

Does anyone have any SECCS stickers i can put on my cooler (it may help for members to see it )

:) hopefully i can fall asleep . i'm overly excited.

Alex and I watched that video over and over again. I really don't think watching it beforehand did me any good, but watching it now is a kick in the pants.

So it's official, I have STi envy. Alex's car makes mine feel like a Civic.

Thanks to EVERYBODY since we had fun and nobody got hurt...even with a near head-on.

Dude, there were like 6 no-shows to Bully's from SECCS... wtf guys?

Other than that, damn fine day. :)

cody 2006-04-08 07:30 PM

+1 for damn fine day. That track was fun! Sorry about Bully's, definately next time.

I hope some of the pictures I took today look alright. If I borrowed your camera you can email them to me (in <10MB zip files per email) at veryverywrong@gmail.com and I'll post up the good ones (assuming there are some). :)

Joeyy 2006-04-08 09:21 PM

They made me take the groceries out of the wagon before my run.

rubberbiscuitt 2006-04-09 06:20 AM

most of you are probably driving there or there already, but i'll try to come out this afternoon. and my brotherinlaw will be co-driving. oh and yesterday was another awesome time, even though i wasn't driving as well as i wanted.

I left just after lunch, and almost fell asleep on the way home. I wouldn't have survived Bully's. :|

rubberbiscuitt 2006-04-09 02:33 PM

yeah, i was too lazy for bullys too. likewise for today.

A1337STI 2006-04-09 07:27 PM

Why didn't you come out Biscuitt ?? didn't have the time to tighten all your lugs ? :P j/k

Today was a blast, the course is a Lot of fun :) both yesterday and today great tracks ! It's amazing how much time i was able to drop when i looked ahead on parts of the course instead of driving with tunnel vision.

Joeyy 2006-04-09 07:57 PM

Heard somebodiy had a picture of me lifting up the rear wheel on the grocery getter. If that someone has the time, please post. Thanks D.

A1337STI 2006-04-09 07:59 PM

i remember seeing a wagon lifting up a wheel. that's neat trick you can do there :D
