AutoCross - August 9-10 @ Stead, meet at Krispe Kreme 7am!

Well, after a couple weeks off, its race time again....Whose gonna make it?

Looks like STX schedule is as follows

Saturday...STX, DS Run 1st, work 2nd
Sunday...STX, DS Run 2nd, Work 1st.

Sweet! Morning groups rule.

I propose an early meet saturday so we can help set up.
KK? 7?

And, Whose in town, who is attending...I hope more of us can make it out for one of the last local events of the season.

Also, for those who want seat time - if you run in the morning, you can run again in the afternoon for 'no points' - Scca members-$10. I think I'm going to run both.

sperry 2003-08-05 08:04 AM

I'm there... and I can do Krispe Kreme at 7am.

ArthurS 2003-08-05 08:38 AM

I might only be watching this weeked since my car is on a donut :x . Maybe I can get my step-fathers A6 twin-turbo out there...

Donut?! What happened? ...sounds like a reason to finally get those SDRs!! We all know how badass the gunmetal SDRs look on a black wagon:

Well I will need winter tires soon, so I will probably grab Matts stockers for that. But definatly need new rims.

I went into US Bank with a full tire, came out and it was flat. :x

Hey Debbie, what's up with Fernely after the AutoCross Saturday? Are we putting together a crew to go check out Gary Shehan's car, and possible pit crew for him?

dknv 2003-08-08 08:37 AM

Scott & everyone-
going out to Fernley after the morning run groups would be a great plan. As Gary mentioned, he's short-handed this weekend. He said (if we go) we should look for him & his wife. I believe he'd really appreciate some extra pair of hands (in addition to checking out his awesome racecar and watching the racing).

So if we show up in force, we'll really represent for reno - seccs.

I believe there will also be an after-event barbecue there put on by NASA. (In case it gets cool after sunset, might want to bring a jacket.)

So who's up for going out there?

sperry 2003-08-08 08:42 AM

I got email back from SubyDude, he might make it to the Stead autocross on Saturday, but that's only if he decides to skip the HPDE on that day...
Quote:

I’ll be there [in Reno] Saturday and Sunday running at the HPDE… we’ll see how Saturday goes and we’ll see if I can make the autox instead of the HPDE…. But honestly… I’ll rather tear up the road track than an autox track
So he'll give me a call, and we'll possibly see him out at Stead! If not, I'm assuming he'll be up at Fernely, so if we're going out to see Gary, we'll prolly run into The Dude as well.

Quite a weekend for Subaru Pseudo Celebrity Sightings! (damn look at me... quadruple alliteration, with 3 different letters...)

sperry 2003-08-08 08:54 AM

I'm hopefully going to be able to make it up to Fernely.

However, my parents will be in town this weekend, and they may be burnt out from long drive Friday, early morning, and 5 hours of autocross to want to make the trip out to Fernely... so either they decide not to go and do something else on their own, or I may hang with them in Reno. 'Course there's always the chance they'll want to come up to Fernely... so we'll see, I'll talk to them tonight.

Ok, I am going out in the morning on sunday to put my car on the track! I need to know what class I am going to be in and what times I will be racing? I have a CAI, and Prodrive springs if that matters.
Also Sperry, can I get another gold SECCS.org sticker please?
Thanks!

STIwish 2003-08-10 02:32 PM

U know you want the STI... 3000GTs and Stealths are PIGS!!! so just buy the STI and get it over with.

MattR 2003-08-10 04:37 PM

dean's car is far from a "pig", it will kick the hell out of an STI, especially with me driving  they are actually very impressive vehicles IMO. Pretty easy to build up too.

MattR 2003-08-10 04:38 PM

BTW Sergio, you missed a hell of an event today, I'll let the other guys give the details though

Yep, Brit was out there... he did really well, esp. since it was his 1st time out there and he didn't have time to walk the course cuz somebody told him he didn't need to be out there till 9:30/10!

Solomon 2003-08-10 06:10 PM

ya ARTHUR!!!
I took my time this morning, cut the grass, played with my kids, etc. Until it was like oh....maybe 8:25 and headed out. I got there and found out like I had 5 min to get out on the track.
hahahah
Ya I had fun. I DNF on the first run when some cones moved in front of me and changed the track. They said it was my fault and that the cones do not move by themselves. dooh!
I went from a 69.something to the last run of a 64.something. I HAVE to get some better tires before my next event.

Dude...I lost your number that morning. I was hoping you would call me. I had to work till about 1 pm. I should have checked the run times out before hand. I am glad you all had fun, while I was baking in the sun listening to 80-year olds blabber on for hours about nothing.

Well, Sunday, the course ran backwards, which, for some reason or another really suited my car. I finally had the balance back that I had earlier in the season, like at Hawthorne. The car would turn in like it never had before, and stayed a bit loose on corner exit, which meant I could pretty much point and shoot and aim the car wherever I wanted. I'd say higher tire pressure, and a bit cooler track temp were the main contributing factors.

Anyway, I ended up surprising the boys by winning with a 57.7 something over Scott with a 58.7 and Theo in third with a 59. I was really surprised, to say the least, I knew I had a good couple of runs, but had no idea how good. The funny thing was, Scott was really pushing hard, and was very close to me in time, then on the last lap, he was really getting in my head, i guess he psyched me up because I went out and ripped my fastest lap of the day.

Overall, it was a very close day, especially since there were only 3 of us in STX. What a great weekend though, Saturday and Sunday were both so much fun at autocross.

Dean insisted that I retire the wagon now, after its first win, and get teh sti, so ...?

Also, I would like to ad, it was very cool to see Britton out there in the bad ass Legacy, the car is very well composed on the track, and his times were pretty impressive as far as I'm concerned, it was cool to see that thing run, good job dude!
