Solo / Autocross school and Test & Tune April 5th.

You know you want to be there, now post this flyer at your office or give it to your friends....

Reno/Stead Airport

Solo, also called Autocross, is a timed contest of driving skill. Speeds and hazards to spectators, participants, and property do not exceed those found in normal, legal highway driving. We think it is much more fun than street driving and you can't get a speeding ticket! Best of all, you can enter in your everyday street car!

This school will introduce you to Solo driving, teach you some of valuable driving skills and give you a chance to try them out in a controlled environment. There will be classroom and in car instruction from experienced drivers and coaches.
Reno SCCA Events are open to all licensed drivers and mechanically sound cars. (Sorry, no SUVS or other tall vehicles.)

Cost: $25 event fee + $15 weekend membership for non-SCCA Memebers.

Schedule: Please plan to arrive by 8:00AM to get registered and have your car inspected before the classroom session begins at 9:00 and plan to be there until at least 4:00PM

If you can't make it to the school, new drivers are welcome at any of our regularly scheduled event and there are people that will help you get started. See the full season schedule at WWW.RenoSCCA.org

For drivers already familiar with Solo, this event will be an ideal time to work on your car setup and get a little practice before the season starts.

The first event of the season is the that Sunday, April 6th.

What are the run groups for Sunday and what time should I show up on Saturday? I can show up early to help with setup.

Dean 2008-04-03 08:28 PM

Setup will start around 7:00.

Run groups are on the detailed schedule on the Reno SCCA web site.It is kind of hidden at the bottom of the solo page.

*SP runs 3rd on sunday.

cody 2008-04-04 09:53 AM

I found the hidden schedule! Thanks guys!

Dean 2008-04-04 05:34 PM

The "After Party/Gathering" will be at the NorthWest Flowing Tide at about 5:30 or so depending on when we get done.

Everyone is invited to come and BS about cars, talk smack to your fellow competitors, eat, drink and have an all around good time.

Yep and I got attacked by one today.:(

Dean 2008-04-05 06:54 PM

Thanks everybody who helped this morning with setup. My brain is fried so I can't remember who all got there when. You know who you are. Thanks.

Will probably start at about 7:30 Sunday if you want to help again.

Special thanks goes to Derrick who braved the gale force winds Fri. to help layout the course and Debbie who showed up later to critique and help out. :)

It would be way more work and I would be a lot less willing to do this without the SECCS support.

Hope everyone had a good day and is looking forward to tomorrow.

That was a lot of fun today, getting the rust out. I'm glad we had a day to iron out the kinks before the first points event!

This year we should have some good competitions with Dean/Matt/Pete/Cory in SM, and Derrick/Jay/John Burns in F125. Hopefully Alex and Vic can give the AS group a run for their money too!

In other news, Nick only has 19 decent runs left in his new hoosiers, so he is going to run one run per event on his new race rubber, then switch wheels for the remaining runs each day.

Today was awesome. Thanks for the help/instruction Cody,Cory and Kevin(I knocked another second off my last lap:) I appreciate it. Special thanks to Nick for holding my foglight which was just reattached with stronger zipties and to Dean for turning my car off when I left it running to go pee and ended up forgetting about it for 10 minutes while working the course.

Nick actually turned it off, so he gets the credit. :) Glad you had a good time.

Sorry to disappoint but I don't think I have anything for Jay and John.

Well, now that my cheap-o used hoosier experiment went well, I've already ordered another set of tires.

Nick Koan 2008-04-06 05:45 AM

Korean hoosiers.

Gorio 2008-04-06 02:04 PM

I just wanted to say thanks to the instructors who helped me out yesterday at the autox school (Derrick, Cory and Kelly). I learned a ton of stuff from them. Hopefully I can make it out there again in future events. Good seeing you again too, Matt.
