Wii Sports helping the struggling flat panel market, awesome.

JonnydaJibba 2006-11-30 08:08 AM

Dude I've broken tons of controllers before... well only like... 7 but this is nothin new.

In your own words Bobby, I've seen better.

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-11-30 08:19 AM

How retarded do you have to be to accidentally throw a plastic controller at your tv, from several feet away, hard enough to break it? I mean, IQ less than 50 or so? Enough brainpower to sustain a heartbeat and normal breathing functions, but less than is required to maintain functional control of your limbs? Wow...

That's a good point. Breaking a controller is one thing, but breaking a controller by wasting it on your screen is way out there.

I know I just like the title.

I'm all Wii'd out!

I headed down to M3n3c3's GameStop at lunch today and picked up a pair of Wii's... one for me, and one for nKoan (who better pay up when he gets back from Vegas!! :P).

Now all I need to do is draft a legally binding document that I can pass out at my house anytime people come over to play that states if they throw a controller through my TV, they're replacing it. Or maybe I should just get a 5'x5' sheet of optical quality plexiglass.

I guess that depends entirely on how many nights are spent on the strip (or in a strip club)

Thanks again man. I'll call you when I get back into town. Also, FWIW, the Saturn Vue is quite possibly the worst rental car I've ever driven. Its in a close race with the Kia Sephia.

MattR 2006-12-05 08:17 PM

I had a Chevy Cavalier rental in Vegas once, I swear it had been used in a homocide. Smelled like a dead body, and it drove like it had been jumped over a curb at 55.

If it was white it was totally my bad, but what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

There has been a recall on the straps.

Does this mean Nintendo will be buying new TVs for the idiots that broke theirs?

Nick Koan 2006-12-15 10:02 AM

Nope. Its only for wrist straps.

That comes later during the class action lawsuit. I figure since Nintendo is basically admitting the straps are weak, they're opening themselves up to replacing damaged property. Poor Nintendo... hopefully the judge/jury will recognize that they're addressing the problem in a quick manner and already doing the right thing, instead of making them buy hundreds of TVs.

skimonkey30 2006-12-15 01:35 PM

mariokart64 is getting re-released onto the Wii.......I see a Wii in my future :D

how do you guys like them??

Nick Koan 2006-12-15 01:41 PM

I like it. The virtual console thing is pretty cool, I fooled around with it last night a little.

I wish there were a few more games out, but the system has just been released, so hopefully the games will pick up in the next few months.

Duckie 2006-12-15 04:52 PM

I have a great time with my Wii. When it comes to a party system and something even non gamers can all have a blast playing ti wisn out for sure. Can't wait for warioware and mario party.

100_Percent_Juice 2006-12-15 04:56 PM

Every Nintendo game ever is going to be able for purchase... at least that's what I understand. My friend has already downloaded every Zelda game they have released so far.

Nick Koan 2006-12-18 09:27 AM

Up through the N64 I believe. Gamecube games won't be available for download.

JonnydaJibba 2006-12-18 09:36 AM

Oh yeah my bad. Isn't that because the Wii plays the GC discs?

sperry 2006-12-20 12:55 PM

And there it is...

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=5423

Fucking litigious-ass America.

HAHAHA, I'm sure Nintendo's goal was to have every Wii owner sue them...

Nick Koan 2006-12-20 01:18 PM

Here is a good link regarding the strength of the strap.

Summary:
http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-...lid-222326.php

Full:
http://www.nintendojo.com/fullfocus/...php?1166055790

Quite a bit of weight is needed to break the original straps.

Duckie 2006-12-20 06:32 PM

Not a very good test of its strength. I can stand on top of an egg and it wont brake, but if I drop it 2 feet it will. I for one think the class action suit is BS but depending on how they word the actual case they might be winning.

Nick Koan 2006-12-20 06:37 PM

I know what you are saying about weight versus force (which I improperly used above originally), but can you really stand on an egg without breaking it? That I would like to see.

Duckie 2006-12-21 05:05 AM

Actually anyone under 250 pounds can do it. Since I weigh in at 145 (damn me being sick and losing weight) I should be safe. My friend did it at a party and explained it actually wasnt too hard and that anyone under 250ish should be able to do it.

I'd like to see this as well. I'm sure it might be possible, but you'd have to stand on the exact top center of the egg. I think finding the right spot would be tough with a big clumsy foot.

Nick Koan 2006-12-21 09:55 AM

As they say "No pic == didn't happen"

I still want a wii are they available yet?

I'm gonna look for that availability site...

M3n2c3 2007-03-25 10:16 PM

They're still nearly impossible to find.

Double Phister 2007-03-26 07:38 AM

I stood in line for two hours yesterday and would have got one if I was two people closer to the front.

Nick Koan 2007-04-10 07:09 PM

Doh, my Wii is kind broken. I'm seeing all sorts of artifacts on the screen in every mode. A little googling and searching on other forums brought me to this

http://www.quartertothree.com/game-t...ad.php?t=34341

Looks like the graphic processor overheated on accident :(

Now I just gotta contact Nintendo Customer Service and see what to do about some warranty work.

JonnydaJibba 2007-04-10 08:20 PM

Stinky.

eggeegg 2007-04-17 11:08 PM

wii is not large and in charge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljZOHnZNaBc
