Brake Pads...
 

I can get some Axxis Ultimates for $59. I dont know if they are a good brand for a good price or what, so once again...another question thread. :?

Yeah, most of us use them. Dusty but very high fade resistance. And a great deal.

A lot of people are saying they cause a decent amount of brake dust, but other then that...I wouldn't know.

BUT - I *Need* Front Pads badly.

Kragen doesn't carry ones for my car. Basically, I have a 2003 but I use 2002 pads because I was a early model 2003. I am confused. So I go to Kragen and ask for 2002 Pads for the WRX, and still no fit, same part number.

Guess I am going online for pads.

email the last 8 digits of your VIN to Brian@subaruwrxparts.com and he will tell you exactly which pads you need. If you have the new style, Axxis doesn't make pads for it yet.

Kevin, I did that. He showed me a few that I can get. I will end up going through him. Thats how I found I still use 2002 pads.

BUT - This is the issue I may be presented with. I have had my front left caliper replaced after my kiss with a curb. I am just hoping that Lithia didn't F up and put a 2003 (later model) caliper onto my front left. Then I would need a 2003 model brake pad on front left and a 2002 pad on my front right.

I am just hoping it's not that way.

Oh god that sucks. So there is a significant difference in pad dimensions? I just got some wrx rotors and calipers put on, maybe I should find out what year cailpers/pads are on there.

Back to U53D, yeah those pads are pretty good. I gots them on me car right now. Decent price too.

You'll have to pull out a pad and compare it to 02 or 03 pads to know for sure. But I would bet that they are 02s if you got them from the yard.

yeah, Nate got them for me from the yard, so that's what I'd assume too.

Okay, here was the the difference for me.

When I bought the pads Kragen said were 2002's, the tabs on the sides of the pads were much larger the the slips on the caliper. Maybe 2003 pads have a smaller tab? If this is so, then my theory is correct and i have a 2003 caliper on my left side.

On a side note, I called Scott at Lithia Body, and he said if it is that way, they can replace the caliper.

Right on. I'd do that for the sake of whoever ends up buying your car.

Okay....so it seems I am right. Lithia must have put a newer 2003 caliper on my car.

My left caliper is 3/8 and my right front is 1/2. So I gatta put a call in to Scott on Monday to get this fixed.

They make a great sweat absorber to put in your helmet right above the visor cutout... no more stinging eyes. 8)
