Autocross at Lovelock, Labor Day weekend

If you are going and haven't signed up yet - Matt Benson needs a Saturday night banquet headcount by end of day tomorrow ($10/person). Online registration on myautoevents.com:
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...32193515302561

MattR 2004-08-30 11:57 AM

I'm registered, and I put a note at the bottom for 1 dinner. Is that good enough? If not, count me for 1.

can;t wait..

Dean 2004-08-30 12:00 PM

Thanks DK, I had forgotten to do that...

sperry 2004-08-30 12:14 PM

GODDAMN I HATE MY AUTO EVENTS DOM COM.

IMO, anyone that uses MAE for their registration process doesn't actually want people to sign up for the event.

Here's my MAE experience:

Sign in >> wait 10 minutes >> give up, sign in again >> wait 10 minutes >> still doesn't work >> go to the main page >> notice that the sign in did work, but the page simply didn't load >> click on Debbie's link again >> wait another 10 minutes >> event comes up, finally >> click on register >> wait 8 minutes (wow, site must have sped up) >> finally confirmation of registration.

That's sooo much more streamlined than:

New email: to Matt Benson >> Subject: Lovelock Solo1 >> Body: Count me in for the event, including 1 banquet ticket >> Send >> Complete.

Anyway, I'm all about this event... and then the Monday after it, the Thunderhill Track day that Lance and Mike are putting on. I'm gonna have to order more brake parts by then.

Sorry, it may have been because I was in the form running a download.
Still, s/b multi-user.

sperry 2004-08-30 12:18 PM

Oh, and n/m my rant about Solo1... I thought this was for that event, not this weekend's Solo2, which I am also "all about".

MattR 2004-08-30 01:20 PM

Scott, I'll take you up on your offer and help you with pads tonight, you have PM/

Kevin M 2004-08-30 02:42 PM

Registered. The site still sucks, but this time it only took a few minutes. The planets must have aligned or something just now.

LetItRev 2004-08-30 02:49 PM

Hey Matt,

Reading this begs the question.....what happened to your car? I hope everything's ok.

This would be a good event to sign up for if you are looking for a lot of practice. I would expect to get six or seven runs per day on a course that is likely to be a cross between Solo I and Solo II. If you're in the Yellow run group you can run for no points in the afternoon on both days and double your seat time!

$40 rooms were still available as of Noon today.

tysonK 2004-08-31 07:30 PM

signed up and ready to go.

got a room with Eric.

dknv 2004-08-31 08:05 PM

Matt,
Are you shooting for street tire points? :?:

yes. Looks like I'm gonna Run Scott's car...

dknv 2004-09-01 07:57 AM

I think STX is only eligible for STX, not Open Street Tire class. Maybe that doesn't matter?

We're checking to see if the car is NESP legal, looks like it was until the new brakes go on tomorrow...So I will run the car in NSM.

dknv 2004-09-01 08:07 AM

Alright, that's Great!

Reminder: early registration Friday from 6-8pm will be at Derby Airport (not at the hotel in Lovelock).
As if any of us will have time, but the Ramada in Lovelock has an indoor pool. I'm sure I'll be conned into taking my daughter for awhile anyway. So if anyone is into swimming ... bring a suit.

Are you sure the brakes are illegal in ESP? I thought street prepared allowed brakes as long as they bolt on to the stock location, whereas STX said "brakes are unlimited" (until recently when they outlawed carbon brakes).

You are right! I was mistaken...From what I can tell...your firing breathing awesome mobile is NESP legal...cool.

MattR 2004-09-01 09:15 AM

Thanks Austin.

Hey Scott, I was thinking, why don;t you run in NESP next year instead of street mod? It's kind of a cheater class if you ask me...

Dean 2004-09-01 09:22 AM

No Boost Mods allowed in SP...

Dean 2004-09-01 09:31 AM

Yes, but I thought one of Scott's desires was for more boost, thus SM.

sperry 2004-09-01 09:38 AM

Dean's right, I'm looking for a class that will allow me to up my boost, and swap the turbo/IC. At least in NESP I can instally those IC hoses I've got.

On the other hand, running in ESP w/ race tires might be a blast! But then I'd get beat up on by Lucas instead of Dean. At least I could try to represent for the Suby crowd against all those F-Body and 'Stang guys!

Those ESP rules regarding brakes: where does it say you can replace the rotors and calipers? I see a lot of stuff about lines, etc, but can I toss a BBK on there or not?

Dean 2004-09-01 10:01 AM

Nope...

Part B. of 15.6

Cross-drilled and/or slotted brake rotors may be used, provided the
replacement rotors have the same dimensions as standard rotors
and are of a standard-type construction and of ferrous metallic
material. This does not permit the use of a two-piece hat/rotor
assembly unless the standard configuration is two-piece.

___________
It makes no mention of calipers, so no changes allowed... This is one of the reasons I moved from BSP to SM in the Stealth.

Cant get the time off!

Im out :x My work put out a notice that they have a shortage of engineers in the sparks/roseville/sac. area and is blocking personal time off for the holiday unless I have a Dr's note. So I will not be attending lovelock but I will honk the horn as i go by on the train! good luck to everyone and have fun

dknv 2004-09-02 10:17 AM

Darn! We'll miss you out there.

Eric, I think you have 7 events this year (of 9 needed for trophy). Hopefully you can make both days in October.
