In-N-Out Burger Open?

I passed the In-N-Out on S. Virginia this evening. The big arrow sign was not on but the place was full of cars. There were cars "parked" in the drive through. The place was packed with people.

Was this their grand opening?

One can only hope! :)

Pat R. 2004-09-22 08:33 PM

It was open for people who were involved with building it (contractors, inspectors, etc) tonight but the grand opening is tomorrow.

Thanks for the response Pat. Was this in the paper?? Do you know what time and if anything special is going on?

Anyone want to go there for lunch?

It'll proabably be to mobbed.

sperry 2004-09-22 08:41 PM

I figure it'll be about 3 months before I'm willing to even try to go there. That place makes people insane... true the food's better than most fast food places, but it's still greasy-ass fast food and not worth a 3 hour wait!!

Scott,

I agree with you 100%, on all accounts.

No, but if you looked closely you would have noticed a bunch of cones with "NO PARKING" signs on them that they had to get from somewhere.

I'll bet you can guess what I had for dinner tonight...

 Nice work!!

Nick Koan 2004-09-22 08:46 PM

Hehe, yeah. The signs also said something like "Not open. Opening Thursday"

I was in a hurry when I drove by. Are you in the "no-parking" sign business Pat?

'SPLAIN :)

Wimp... And to call In-N-Out fast food is sacrilege. And especialy for you, Bacon is not extra, it is not even on the Menu....

Double Double, Lettuce Only
Fries Well Done
Strawberry Shake please...

I won't wait 3 hours for it, but maybe 30 minutes...

It's not sacrilege to call it fast food, just incorrect. If you spend longer in line to buy it than it would take you to butcher your own cow and make it yourself, it's certainly not fast. :p However, just the thought of bacon on a double-double rules...

How long do you think before car clubs start meeting there?

3, maybe 4 years. Once the novelty of In-N-Out in Reno wears off. But there'll still be no parking, their location sucks. Rumor has it they were planning on the lot where Krispe Kreme is now, but KK swooped in under them and took it. :x That would have been a much better location than across the street from Burger King at a shitty intersection.

murphy 2004-09-23 06:53 AM

that place is always going to be full..looks like it will be easy to get into burger King at lunch now.. I stopped in at and IN & Out when I was in Phoenix. There are like 4 of them there and it was still Packed! Yes I know its Phoenix and huge but still that place has many many more places to eat and the " cool, an In & out burger" phase has passed and its still packed.

sperry 2004-09-23 08:29 AM

I here there are people lined up outside since early this morning. I-N-O opens at 10:30.

JC 2004-09-23 08:44 AM

I wish you could franchise an In-N-Out. You'd make a bunch of money.

zpeed 2004-09-23 08:57 AM

My friend heard the ad in the radio today. They have another one in Spark not done yet. maybe we can start line up

MikeK 2004-09-23 08:58 AM

I drove past this morning at about 9:20 on the way to work. They are already open, the parking lot is packed, and the line for the drive through goes all the way out onto the street.

I think it's family own only.

Actually I think scott is right, someone here told me they do open at 10:30, but people are already lined up. Unbelievable.

Yep, you are correct, my mom and dad had this idea when they first moved to Reno, but got shot down...

MikeSTI 2004-09-23 09:05 AM

It is not unbelieveable...

There is just something about In-N-Out that sets it apart from the rest, and inspires almost cult like following akin to Rocky Horror fans, etc.

They do just a coiuple things, burgers, fries, and shakes and they do them well. No Tacos, no chicken strips, and No Bacon.... Everything is freash, and it is always good, period. I like there slogan/motto... "Quality you can taste."

In college at Riverside, they were the only game in town after midnight, and they were 20 minutes away at first. We would pile in a car and roll in at 12:30-45, and they would basically know our orders, and we would sit arount the 3 fiberglass outside tables and eat and BS...

I'm thinking 11:00am lunc some time next week might be doable...

There is one more Reno one, and a Carson one coming soon as I understand, and yes, I beleive KK stole their first site choice...

It's owned by the founder's wife. I thought it would be a good idea to start one in MI or a Taco Bell by campus, I never realized how high the franchise restrictions were.

Pat R. 2004-09-23 09:22 AM

Supposedly the one in Carson is opening next week and the one in Sparks (Pyramid & Victorian) shortly thereafter.

zpeed 2004-09-23 11:16 AM

Wait, you passed on *free* deli sammaches, pasta, potato salad, ceasar salad, sodas, fruit, and cobbler in the courtyard here at IGT to wait almost 90 minutes for a grease-ball burger?

owned.

BOO 2004-09-26 04:20 PM

thats just me though.. lol
