Is this new?(As into them carrying it) cause I went to Barns & Noble as well as the one over by the power company(Can't think of the name right now) and they both looked it up and said they found nothing :(

I guess I am gonna just have to subscribe.. I wanted to look at one before I decided..
OK cool thanks :)

Nick Koan 2005-04-19 07:23 AM

There have been 3 or 4 issues (it comes every two months), so its relatively new.

kidatari 2005-04-20 05:53 PM

I signed up for a subscription back when it was announced, and I still never got a single copy.

Hmm.. now that worries me.. :(
I am sorry to hear

MattR 2005-04-21 05:57 AM

The issue I saw was pretty mediocre, I guess the fact that I read about Subaru's online everday kind of makes a magazine useless, but you're not missing much.

So far I am not too impressed as well. They are just starting, so hopefully they will get better. They just did an article on that (sperry quote "monstrosity") ESX STI and wrote that "ESX even went as far as to include red stitching on the shift knob and steering wheel". That tells me they have never even been in a standard STI; and this from a magazine named Subiesport.

Nick Koan 2005-04-21 08:34 AM

Yeah, the coverage is mediochre at best. I have the subscription for the next year, but I barely skim through the issues.

I pretty much read the whole magazine while taking a crap.

You can start by addressing issues like this ;)

BTW, good luck charging for a forum that's jsut starting up, seems a little strange to me.

cody 2007-10-16 02:21 PM

The forum is free...

sybir 2007-10-16 02:23 PM

I know there's some other benefits that come with the fee, just seems strange. Last thing we need is yet another suby forum :D

Yes, it is free to use the forum. We just have a special section for paid members.
Please see the membership levels here.
http://www.subieclub.com/levels.html

We had 1000 registered members in one week of opening the site. try it out. ;)

sybir 2007-10-16 02:38 PM

If you're going to answer SubieSport questions ,and you're going to push your forum on our forum, please address our member's concerns for a paid service that has not been provided.

Thanks,

JonnydaJibba 2007-10-16 02:49 PM

That post is over 2 years old. I hope it has been resolved by now. If not, the mag and the potential subscriber are slackers.

sybir 2007-10-16 02:53 PM

If he bumped the thread to invite questions, he gets questions about unresolved issues. Simple as that.

Nick Koan 2007-10-16 02:55 PM

Like he's ever coming back. It's probably just hit-and-run spam for their magazine and forum.

sperry 2007-10-16 04:11 PM

The thread about the SubieClub forums over on NASIOC was pretty entertaining. I'll just copy what I said there to here:

Except in the "it costs $30" sense of the word.

As far as I can tell, the only difference between NASIOC and this SubieClub idea, is that NASIOC is self-sufficiently organized by its own members, while SubieClub offers to organize things for a fee.

So, for SubieClub to succeed, they need to demonstrate value. Show potential buyers they can do it better than the people that are already doing it solely for their love of the enthusiasts community. Their big problem is that they're going up against some well established people that run things pretty smoothly. WBM is huge and well orchestrated; the Mt. Hammy deal goes off pretty well; lots of people already have the access to tracks at reasonable prices through their own local means, people have always had local meets, BBQs, gatherings... Unless SubieClub is bringing the subaru equivalent of hookers and blow to their deals, they're not really offering any value for the cost of joining.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1357725

Nick Koan 2007-10-16 04:15 PM

Wait, don't we still offer hookers and blow to all new members for free

Or was that just the deal when I joined up?

sperry 2007-10-16 04:15 PM

I will give Yuji credit for bumping a related thread instead of starting a new one. Just showing up to advertise their forum is bad taste. Showing up and searching to see if we even know about SubieSport and chiming in is way classier (no sarcasm intended).

Also, for the record, Yuji's got an account here that's like 2 years old though he wasn't actively using it... I'm just assuming he forgot the password.

So, that's +2 for those keeping score at home.

MPREZIV 2007-10-16 05:44 PM

Man, I went through all my free hookers and blow so fast...

YUJI 2007-10-16 05:53 PM

BTW Nevada is my home. Also I was having a registration problem for a while and could not get an activation code to post until today.

I came here to promote our events during SEMA in Las Vegas. www.flat4invasion.com
I thought it would be nice to have you guys come to our event and have fun. I met a few people from this forum last year in Vegas, and they were very nice.

Also I was told not to do any custmer service by publisher, so for those who have questions or problems with your subscription, contact our subscription dept.
Phone 1-800-927-4344 or visit this link:
https://www.themagstore.com/?ProductCode=sub
They should straighten things up. I can probably answer some photo or Japanese questions thou.

For SubieClub, what ever you want to think... This is the international Subaru community and not only a forum. If you guys want, we can create a special SECCS sub forums in SW section if there are enough people registering from your region. Flat4LV (Las Vegas Subaru club) uses the forum to promote their club. We also help local subaru clubs. Please see the link below.
http://subieclub.com/index.php?showtopic=34

Well.....
I feel the love around this community. If you don't like me being here, oh well, please delete my account. if you guys have questions, feel free to pm me. bye for now.

I don't think people are trying to hate on an additional club. Hell, this club started up during the infamous i-club/nasioc split, but we found we had a small local audience that co-exists just fine without detracting from the other boards. If you guys can really add value for the fee then you'll be fine, and if not then you'll still probably be able to get by just on the free offerings as many other clubs have. Let the free market decide.

The flat4 guys seem to run a pretty popular site, I know they started after we did and are far bigger than we are (or that we want to be IMO), so they're obviously doing something right. Please don't hesitate to come around here and keep us up to date on the stuff going on in Vegas or with SEMA, as I know some of the folks here are probably interested.

Thanks,
yes, you are right, if you guys like our magazine and the new club, that's great! If not, that's too bad but before saying anything bad, give us your feedback first and let us know what we are don't wrong.

Also I like taking care of Nevada people as I am in the state. Send us your meet pics, group pics and sick car pics, and we may be able to run them in the up coming issue. You guys may want to participate in our simultaneous World Meet next time we host it. Last weekend, Vegas, Seattle, AZ, NJ, Toronto, Japan, the UK, and NZ joined our world meet. why not you guys next time?

Bye for now.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-10-16 08:34 PM

wrxkidid 2007-10-16 09:08 PM

YUJI 2007-10-17 07:02 AM

Send me some meet/group pics with someone holding Subiesport magazine with maybe subies in the background, and we will see... Don't forget to write some comments about your club too. Interesting pics and articles will get our attention...

JonnydaJibba 2007-10-17 07:20 AM

A special SECCS section on another forum. LOL.

Send us a stack of subiesport magazine and then we will take a great picture of everyone holding them with scoobs in the background.;)

NevadaSTi 2007-10-17 03:17 PM

Can we stack the magazines on the hood of my Ford?

ScottyS 2007-10-17 05:55 PM

Magazines work great for ballistics testing......oh wait, I think I'm supposed to use People, Time, and Oprah. My bad.

YUJI 2007-10-19 06:18 PM

yeah sure...

M3n2c3 2007-12-08 07:06 PM

Just got the latest issue of Subiesport. . . the '08 STI article was a great read. They detailed some of the bigger changes (stronger/reinforced body shell, improved suspension, VDC/DCCD controls, wider wheelbase, etc.), and took it to Laguna Seca, where they pulled a 1:57.6. They even graphed out lap data - with speed, lateral g's, and acceleration g's - against time and turn number, with notes regarding such things as brake input, gear changes, and acceleration input at key points.

Overall they say that the new STI is a much more significant improvement over the WRX model than in previous years.

I've never cared much for the Team Orange dorifto-rama articles. . . but features like this make me glad I have the subscription.

WRX06TR 2007-12-08 10:06 PM

I liked the article on the Perrin RWD WRX. It has an FP Red and a Chevy 400 3speed Trans...

Libila 2007-12-09 03:15 AM

I ordered my subscription in September and I'm still waiting on my first issue...

WRX06TR 2007-12-09 11:53 AM

Yea, it took me a long time to get my first issue. It's a magazine that only comes out every other month so if you subscribe in a month were they released an issue then it seems like forever before you get yours.

M3n2c3 2007-12-09 10:13 PM

Yeah, that was my experience too.
