Reno Divisional AutoX Event June 25/26
The planning for this event is beginning to shift into high gear. I'm sure we'll discuss this topic at tonight's Renoscca meeting; but also wanted you all to know that a search for volunteers for this event is on.
What it is: Autocross at Stead, with invitations that go out to all the SCCA Norpac regions (NNV, N. CA, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, and Alaska). It is stop #2 of 4 divisional events (first was at Atwater; 2nd is here, 3rd is at Packwood, WA (near Mt. Rainier), and the 4th in Montana. People who are competing for divisional points need to participate in 3 out of 4 events to be eligible for divisional awards -- however, both days are also Reno Region points events. A divisional is run under a stricter set of rules than our typical regional events (i.e. you need to be an SCCA member; no passengers; actual hit cone numbers are recorded at each corner station; etc.). If you want to be a competitor alongside some of the best autox'rs in the country, with some of the best-prepared cars, plan to participate. This is not meant to scare off any novices, we will have the Novice class as well -- I'm just telling you it's a chance to see how some of the masters of this sport get it done. I hear that Scott will be designing the event shirt (again - Scott, your reputation in design is preceeding you!); and Matt will be using his connections to get this to production. And then Scott & Dean will be handling Timing & Scoring, which is a pretty big job in a Divisional event. I am considering another chief position as well. If you have interest in volunteering for some extra help at this event, make yourself known. We want to make this divisional shine as an event to remember in our Norpac division. |
I'm certainly willing to help in whatever fashion I can (which is probably no more then doing what people tell me to do), but I have a wedding to attend on the 25th.
I'll be around on the 26th, and I certainly relish the chance to take my noob self out in a stock car and race against pros. |
I should be there and able to help in some shape or form. If its setup one day or tear down another let me know :D
|
I'll help the most by not helping. At least that's what my grandpa used to say. I would be willing to help, Unfortunately because of the drive, setup at the butt-crack o' dawn is kinda out, but anything else, I'm game! :)
|
I'm in for the weekend. Whatever use you guys can find for me. Will we still be able to run Street Tire?

Yes, there will be street tire this year. |

Yes, I'm still willing to do that.

I accepted the role of Chief of Course for our divisional - and am now looking for some volunteers to help with these duties, as well as a co-chief who can help while I am running.
Extra helpers also needed Sat. & Sun. early a.m. for course setup. The course crew will be responsible for making sure each corner station has timesheets, fire extinguishers, red flags, extra cones, charged radios; rounding up the course timesheets after each round (for which we are supposed to be able to use the club's new Nissan FX450); and clearing the course if we have a stopped or dead car. Also cleaning up oil spills (God forbid). Anyone here? (I'll also be asking the general membership at our monthly renoscca meeting on June 8th.) |
<--- That guy will help.

I will help also. I dont know what the run groups are yet but you can expect that what ever day is witch I will work 1 morrning (setup) and 1 afternoon (tear down). I will be running TSM so when you get the schedule worked out you can put me in there based on when the runs are. I hope this helps?

<stocks up on caffeine> |
I can help out, except for Saturday. Prior commitments, but if you need anything before hand or on Sunday, just let me know.
|
I'm already Timing & Scoring... I wonder if that means I can drive the FX to pick up audit slips!

All who are planning to attend,
Please get yourself registered either through myautoevents.com, or print & send a hard copy registration. myautoevents: http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=3603&psrnd=.0466092 7952970997986504931190816011371 or download hard copy from: www.renoscca.com At last night's monthly Reno SCCA meeting, discussion was that we need more Reno region participants to get signed up. This helps the planners to understand how many t-shirts and what sizes are needed, to pre-order trophies for the registered classes, and to plan for run groups. Remember, you need to be an scca member, memberships will be sold at registration. |
Scott, TSM is now offered, go update your registration n00b.

OKAY!!!What are the run groups? I want to be out of there early Saturday and Sunday...What are my chances?
|
As co-Chief of Course for this event I advise all competitors-- the Michelin-tired especially-- to walk/inspect the course as early as possible and immediatly notify the proper stewards if there is a potential problem so we can avoid any embarrassing and time-consuming delays once the event begins. We all want Matt to get some sweet lovin' this weekend.
|
phew. I got Bridgestones. I should be okay :p

As far as the Michelins go, that includes Falken tires, as they are a Michelin product...I'll be on Bridgestones as well, along with Ferrari, Minardi and Jordan ;) . |
Would some 'No Michelin' stickers be a popular choice?:P

As someone who was going to help on clean-up crew, I would say your chances of being out early are slim & none. :( Unless you wanna swap? edit: n/m, the thing you're helping Kyp with is during the event right? |

Plan to be there all day as run/work groups wil most likley be stagered instead of our normal sequential.
I think some of these would be good... |
I think a great picture would be the Michelin man tripping over an F1 car.
|
How about the Michelin man rolling down a banked turn.
Oh, and I too will be benefitting from the Bridgestone recce of the new course. :D |
No passengers?
|
Looks like Street tire Runs 2 works 4...ghey.

How about us in T&S... The run groups aren't set for late arrivals, so we can't set heats in the SW until Sat after 8AM. Don't know if we are doing grid, or somebody else is, but the car numbers are not right for some single and 2 driver cars, so needless to say, there will be many last minute changes and additions. Oh, and I run first, and Scott has never been in charge of a divisional before and then he runs second while I'm still in impound... I'm not saying we are worse off than you, only sympathizing/sharing your pain. Fun Fun Fun... |
Debbie, what time would you like me to show up in the morning to help set up? Sounds like close to 6 would work...I will have to focus my time on setup, not takedown, as I can;t stay late either day, but just say when and I will be there early.
|
I would say 6:00 or 6:30 is pretty close. It will take more time to set up the course than tear it down so it's better to have the help in the morning vs. the afternoon.
Since the sweeper car has a DVD player it would be a nice touch if someone brought their copy of this year's Monaco F1 race to watch while we're chilling in the AC between picking up audit sheets.:) |
Hey guys, I wasn't meaning to complain. Being involved actually gives me energy (until I run out of it ;) ).
Matt - I should have qualified that work outline by saying I know you know what's it's like - you have been an event chairman, and it's that plus more. (Most people don't see what all is behind the scenes, and has to get done even days & weeks before race day.) Yeah, Dean, I'm sorry but you & Scott are having to do extra work too -- besides what would normally be your assigned work shift. Part of the role of being a T&S chief I guess - but I understand, having to be there early, stay late, deal with the last-minute stress; miss the socials (& beer) can get old fast. Everyone who pitches in to do more than what's expected: you are soooooooo appreciated. |
Man, I feel a lot less bad about having to get up at 6 both days to help Pat Housel. Debbie, if there's anything else I can do to help on saturday, let me know. Sunday I may be forced to skip out early b/c of work. :(

do to unexpected events I can't come play this weekend :(
I still want to help out, if possible. I can be out there Sat. morning at 6:00 to help set up or whatever needs to be done. I need to head out by 7:45am to get to the Airport and pick up my wife. I will talk with her and I'm sure I could come back out in the afternoon to watch a little and help with the the tear down. I know I said I would be out there but life sucks sometimes  just let me know if I can still help out :) and I'll be there!! |
Mike, you could probably still run if you want. Street tire is the second group, and works 4th, so as long as you get registered tonight or tomorrow AM, and can get back from the airport by about 10 or so, you should be OK.

Course setup begins at 6:00am, the course is open for walking from 7-8am, registration & tech are open 7-8am, and there is a driver's meeting scheduled for 8:30am.
Luckily the tanker that was sitting at the end of the course has been hauled away. At least we don't have to re-map the course through there, whew. |
Good job today everyone....SECCS trophies for:
