July 16,17 AutoX event

I was wondering what the rules are going to be for this event. Is it going to be like the April event that I made it out to?

I have a (female) friend who would like to come along and ride in my car, and perhaps anyone else who wouldn't mind the passenger. Will there be passengers allowed? Obviously she would have to fill out the release of liability, even though she wouldn't be racing.

One more question, if I do let her drive my car, can we run it as a two driver car in the Novice class?

MikeK 2005-06-30 01:45 PM

Yes, passengers will be allowed, and yes, she can co-drive as a two driver car (if she paid the $30/day ... just being a passeneger is free)

sperry 2005-06-30 01:48 PM

The July event is (finally) a plain old regular event. Somehow we're half way through the season, and we've had only one regular weekend... everything else has been an out of town event or the Divisional.

You will certainly be able to take passengers at this event, assuming they're old enough... which sounds like the case. And if she wants to co-drive, that's no problem as well... just have her sign up and pay her $30, and we can run both of you in the Novice class!

NevadaSTi 2005-06-30 02:15 PM

Sweet, she is old enough. (31 but don't tell her I told you all that.) Bruspeed has met her a couple of times.

Since thats the case, all my questions where answered. I will be there. I will just need to know what time to show up on Sat.

Before 8am is your best bet to get all signed up and teched w/o being rushed.

I think I have a couple of the guys from a local tire shop coming down for the event also. One of them drives a 05 Nissan 350Z. The other guy drives an RX8, but he slid it off the road when someone pulled out in front of him. He landed in an irrigation ditch. Got water all throughout the engine bay and into passenger compartment. OUCH.

:( I wonder, does his car have traction control, if so, was it on or off?

We heard last night, online registration is up on myautoevents.com, pre-registration would be appreciated.

Mike Mulhall is one of the event chairs, he's said the Sat. format would be a 2-lap, approx. 80 sec. run; Sun. is 1-lap. Sounds like fun.

I just pre-registered, and they don't have sponsor information anymore ... wtf?

No problems with the swap... they're just too busy to get it done ASAP, and once it's in, I still need to break in the motor for a few hundred miles before they can tune it and I can race it.

IDK exactly, I asked to obvious question. Was he drunk?

MattR 2005-07-11 08:28 PM

BUMP!

I hope everyone can make it out this weekend, looks like a great course is planned for saturday, with a two-lap version, ala Mike Mulhall and Jim U. Their course was one of my favorites on last year's schedule, and should be as fun if not better from what Mike was telling me. It will be great to finally have another normal local event.

Also, I have the new coilovers on the car for their maiden voyage, I can't wait to test them out.

sti deede 2005-07-12 04:04 PM

Are the coilovers all aligned? So exciting for you. :)

I can't wait to see the 'brawl' in street tire this weekend:

I got a call from PaulJ, who's showing up (at least on Sat.). Get your game face on.... or your camber set ... go! (Sorry, he did not say he was bringing his cousin from Denmark this time. But he is bringing his new wife.)

MattR 2005-07-14 02:39 PM

I have my game face on...this 3rd place shit sucks :p

Dean 2005-07-14 02:50 PM

So as to not pollute the Results Thread...

Damn, Open PAX is a close battle... I'm throwing down this weekend... New shaved tires. It's on...

Wow, Pax is close at the top.... Things are cool for me down in 42nd., don't be scared, i'm cool.

I like the smack talkin brewing, reminds me of last season. It's amazing, Mike K went from my favorite autocrosser, to my least favorite in one season. (DIAF :p) Someone needs to beat Paul J fair and square dammit, it's rediculous.

Scott and I will be going the other route, with my rock hard beat up old RE070s. I think that after this weekend they will be down to the cords, and only 4XXX miles on them

You guys could try my old but newly shaved Hankooks... They got lightly toasted at Streets of Willow Springs last week, so I'm having them shaved as well to 4/32nds to even them out mostly...

Then again, with 2 drivers, those 070s may come in OK when hey get warm...

Thanks for the offer ... but I don't think there is time to get them mounted between now and the weekend. The crusty old RE070s should be OK. Besides, we need something to blame in case we suck :P

Too bad you don't have 18's. I could loan you my hoosiers on Sunday. ;) Oops, that'd take you out of class anyway tho.

Novice drivers are usually put into whatever group is short of people. You can run in either the morning, the afternoon, or both if you want.

Bob Danger 2005-07-16 03:03 PM

Well, let me apologize to everyone for messing up the last couple of corners today, and to Matt, sorry dude it was that kids first time and he should have flaged. I'm going to start taking apart my car, I wish everyone the best of luck tomarrow

Kevin M 2005-07-16 03:44 PM

Matt is sitting here and he says he's not mad, since he didn't crush your skull or anything. Plus he broke his car anyway, so no loss to him. :D

MattR 2005-07-16 04:00 PM

Yeah, tough day for a few of us, some mechanical gremlins for sure....

Bobby, no sweat man, I wasn;t mad at you, I was just startled to see you on the track like that...My car was tweeked anyway. I hope you get the thing fixed.

Pat R. 2005-07-16 07:38 PM

I lost a front swaybar bushing, and once the car was on the lift at Sid's, we found one of the brackets on the rear swaybar was disconnected and bent back. :(

Sid was awesome, and worked late on a Saturday fixing everything.

dknv 2005-07-16 08:34 PM

And, Congrats to MikeK for (another) street tire win today! :)
