New Grooves...

Went to Tower at lunch today, grabbed a fist full of new electronica...

PvD - Politics 2
Armin van Buuren - Shivers and State of Trance '05
Sasha - Fundacion NYC
Danny Howells - Global Underground: Miami
Nick Warren - Global Udnerground: Shanghai

I haven't listened to it all yet, but the Sasha album is a little bit too proressive (I liked Airdrawndagger a lot more) but the Nick Warren album is *fucking tight*.

Matt, I believe you picked up some of these recently, what do you think?

MattR 2005-09-26 04:20 PM

Yeah, that Nick Warren Mix has not left my Ipod ...I love it. It's very different. Nick Warren is one of my favorite DJ's. His last mix (GU24: Reykjavik) is one of the all time greats...But if you really like his sound, check out some of his work done with Jody as a duo called WAY OUT WEST, they absolutely rock.

I really dig the new Sasha disc, but it is a lot different the Airdrwn....Its a lot softer. The difference is, this Fundacion album is a mix, not original material like Airdrwn.

Now, those others, I have not picked up yet....I here that Danny Howells mix is sick, i'm looking forward to checking it out...Along with the PvD mix...oooh yeah.

tysonK 2005-09-26 04:35 PM

Hey did either of you buy the Armand Van Helden album Nympho? It's not a mix, it's original stuff I was listening to it but I didn't buy it. I really liked what I heard.

I'm looking forward to getting these two, both were on back order from my favorite online store:

Marsen Jules-Herbstlaub
Manual- Azure Vista

MattR 2005-09-26 04:37 PM

Scott, check out track 9/10 on Fundacion, is by James Holden and Julie Thompson. It also appears as track 4 on disc 2 of the Nick Warren Mix, its a hot track.

james Holden is a kick-ass DJ and Producer in his own right, you would probably really like his album "Fear of a Silver Planet" from a few years ago. I can let you burrow it and commit it to Ipod.

MattR 2005-09-26 04:38 PM

Tyson, I've not heard that Nympho album, I really haven't listened to Armand much, maybe I should start.

Nick, if you like WOW, pick up a mix by Jody (the other half of Way out West), the mix is titled, "way out there", Unbelievably good music.

"fat": adj.
1. A variation of the term "phat", most often used in the Cracker sub-dialect of the language Ebonics: those tunes are fat, yo.

2. The term for McDonald's addicts: check out the fat chick in the drive-through, wouldn't want to walk off any calories!

Well one has a screw close to the sidewall. The others are worn fairly even but all are at or beyond the treadwear bar.

Let me know what you want to do.

Oh no.... I'm gonna have to switch to the winter tires too. Unfortunately, snows are a bit much in sacramento for winter.

*off to the streets to whore myself out for more mon-ay*
